There is no place for video technology in the modern game.
My favourite non-Newcastle goal would have to be Bergkamps vs us tbh (in terms of PL)
Agreed, thats not controversial though.
Got to disagree there. There is no place for wrong decisions changing the out come of a game when the technology is available.
1) Yes, well I guess the return last season added to that...rightly or wrongly.
2) Gerrard - I was laughing at half time, but ended up supporting you in the end - that performance by Gerrard in the second half I think was the best right back performance I have ever seen.
But its always been like that why change something just because you can?
Lucas Leiva is unquestionably the best defensive midfielder in England and (very easily) arguably the world.
Steven Gerrard should not be played in central midfield. In fact he's factually and statistically a better right mid than centre mid.
Glen Johnson is an excellent footballer and one of the better right backs around.
Darren Fletcher was excellent for Man u for a considerable time.
Owen Hargreaves was overrated off the back off three decent games for England at the World Cup in 2006 and was never as good as his myth suggests.
Gareth Barry is a very good player.
Rafael Benitez was fully justified at looking for potential replacements for Xabi Alonso in the summer of 2008 and the fee we received when we sold him was excellent business.
Wigan should stay up every season.
Thomas Vermaelen isn't as good as Arsenal fans suggest. Nor is Wojciech Szczesny.
That's controversial, how?
Incidentally where did my NUFC-LFC thread go?
And re video technology - I feel that it's a slippery slope and that we could end up (in 40 years time, say) with a game with no 4th official or linesmen. I think part of the excitement of the game is down to the human nature of it.
Its what makes football the worlds most widely played sport, you can play basically the same game as the pro's on a sunday morning for the Dog And Donkey pub.
Adding video technology means the game will be different from grass roots to the top, and that is not what football is about.
Supporting Wigan must be the most frustrating thing ever tbh - they only seem to be arsed at around March/April then go and batter teams they should be nowhere near (see everyone except United)
Also on vid-tech, all of the examples people always bring up (Lampard vs Germany, Spurs vs United with Rob Carroll, England at the Euros) were so blatant that 99 times out of 100 the ref/lino would spot it, no need for vid-tech.
I think this might be the season when Arsenal stop being a feeder club to Man City.
Because it would make the decisions correct, nothing worse than a rubbish decision changing the outcome of a game. All other sports use technology not sure why football is so many years behind, surprised it didnt happen years ago.
Liverpool will finish the season in the bottom half of the league.
Both Arsenal and Tottenham will have a disastrous league campaign and finish outside the top 4.
United and City will utterly dominate the league again and net over 100 goals and 95 points apiece.
Chelsea will finish a distant third and Di Matteo will get the sack.
Surprise of the season will be Everton clinching the 4th spot in the league to further Liverpool's woes and humilation.
Suarez will be murdered.
The excitement comes from watching two teams play a good game of football. A ref or linesman making a cock up isn't exciting
Eden Hazard will disappoint.
Having seen Oscar live, I think the lad will impress more than Hazard at least, but will need a little time to adapt. Intelligent classy player is the young Brazilian.
Koscielny is more important right now and Szczesny still has errors in him
I like this thread, im gonna think of some off the top of my head.
Me and Superyids are actually very sensible and eloquent posters.
Suarez is the most gifted technical player in the prem.
Stamford Bridge is the worst atmosphere at full capacity in europe.
Man City wont dominate football for the next few years, they will have dips just like chelsea have had since they won the lottery. There is no chance Mancini will see out his 5 year deal.
Adebayor is a bottom half of the table level striker.
Liverpool have regressed in the last couple of years more than in any time since they last won the league.
Laudrup is a terrible appointment for Swansea.
Sigurdson has the sweetest strike in this entire league.
Pappis cisse and demba ba are both vastly overrated and limited players.
The guy above beat me to it, Everton will challenge for champions league and win a cup next season!
