No bull5h!t, my mate done his whole months wages on one of those machines within the space of 2 hours yesterday. He left the Bookies last night at around 8pm with beads of sweat pouring down the back of his neck & he was as white as a sheet saying "never again"

Everywhere else in Europe, these machines are banned & i'm not surprised why, they clean out just about anyone who plays them. I can't see the attraction myself but then again i despise any form of gambling.

Are you guys aware of these machines & do any of you play them ?

Betting's a mugs game imo. I'll have the occasional quid on the correct score or a go on the lotto but that's it. Nobody beats the bookies long term even though they almost all claim they do.

There's plenty of people in the world that make a living out of gambling, so that's not true but that's not claiming it's easy..

Its not just the machines, its gambling in general, especially roulette, because its so easy to win. Losing that much in such a short space of time leaves you physically sick and you're almost in a state of shock.

One word of advice though 'Eesa', although he has said never again, there is every chance he will do it again and he could lose it all again. If I were you, I'd talk to him about it and see if you're able to stop him doing it in the future, I wish someone had for me when I got addicted last year.

Oh no Speakers, you don't play those roulette machines do you ??? :(

My friend has been gambling for 30 years & he tries to console himself by saying that it's his 1 & only vice. (It's his only vice because he can't afford to do anything else). With regards to talking to him about it, well that ship sailed years ago. He's 47 years old & still lives with his mum, he has absolutely nothing to his name. At first his money would go on horses, dogs & football, now all he does as soon as he gets paid is play those roulette machines.

If he is stupid enough to be pouring money away on poxy machines then he deserves to be dancing on a street corner for pennies.

Roulette is a game of chance, I won £35 at the casino Friday and cashed in and walked away.

I don't, it was the casino and online that did it for me. Sounds like your going to have little luck then unfortunately, although from what you said, he has no children or house, so at least he has no big financial dependancies.

You never see a bookies go bust do you?

The only gambling I do of any sort is football accumulators once a week/fornight. I personally get an enjoyment out of it, it makes games of otherwise no interest, interesting. The way I see it is I pay £1 to have a bit of fun; no different to paying £30 or whatever to watch a game of football for enjoyment. But for me I've never had the urge to more than £1 on. If I'm busy on Saturday morning and don't get the chance to put the accumulator on, I'm not fussed.

I place the odd (small) bet on football, but only bet what I could afford to lose. I probably bet about £20 a month max - even if every bet loses that won't really kill me.

If I was to go to a casino (only just turned 18 so haven't been to one yet) I would again only take what I could afford to lose in cash, and would probably leave my credit card at home to remove the temptation to draw more out.

Way too easy to get too dragged into gambling.

It's online betting that got me. When I was a student I was betting in-play on all sorts of ridiculous things, like Chinese women's second division, just for something to do to pass the time. Though fortunately once my bank balance was empty I wasn't tempted to top it up, so went a long time without a bet.

Nowadays, Ill have a couple of accumulator bets on at the weekend, normally one goals galore, one on a few home teams to win, and one on a few away teams not to lose. Slightly down this season, but nothing drastic. Will probably place a few bets on Cheltenham tomorrow

I don't think for a minute you was lying and people in this thread will know how easy it is to do in a lot of money on those machines.

I am a sucker for these machines especially when having a 'serious' session in the bookies. The worst is when I don't fancy any horse in a race, so leaves me with 10-20 minutes till next race, so can just lose £200 just like that. Truly awful.

To add to your misery you have in some of these betting shops, lots of people around you nosying and it drives me insane. If I am winning or losing on these machines, I just want to be left in peace. People telling you to put this number on and so on and I deliberately put that number on, because if it comes in, they will ask for something and I can have great pleasure in telling them no and walking out of betting shop. The ones that make me laugh is when they look at previous numbers, an example being if it was 6, then 16, they'll say "omg, bet 26 and 36", yes as if it is that easy.

In general these machines are an absolute joke and a fix, I definitely believe there is a way to beat them, but you have to be either, very clever or have some sort of information on the machines. They are not random, I think the way they do you over is by the computer finding out your betting patters, then KO. Although the last time I did go on these, I had a big win, £10 on a number came in for the first time ever. It is brilliant when this happens, click that collect button and walk out.

I also add that you wouldn't mind losing a few quid on these machines over a year, if it just keep you entertained for a little bit, but the reality is that over a year if you are a regular, you will lose thousands, like I have.

Stay of the machines, I plead to you all.

I didn't know they was banned in other places though, wish they was here.

I have a mate who is badly addicted to these machines. A few months back I ended up kicking off on him, went to St Helens with him shopping, he had £200 and wanted some trainers and a TShirt. When we got to St Helens we walked past the Ladbrokes he said "Hang on, I wanna throw a footy bet on"....I knew what was coming.

Into the bookies it was bang, straight on to the roulette machine, £100 of his money gone in 10 minutes...bang another £50 gone 10 minutes later, bang last £50 gone ten minutes later. I was disgusted with him, had spent 20 minutes telling him to get off the thing and all I got was "In a minute, me numbers will come in soon" they didn't.

He then turned to me and asked me to borrow him some cash, I gave him a tenner and said that's it....that was gone within minutes, he asked did I have any more, I said yes, but you can piss off and walked out of the bookies, I spent the day giving him down the banks over it.

I also know a lad (my cousins best mate) that hung himself over gambling debts of £10,000...these machines were part of the problem, as well as casinos and online bookies.

They should be banned, as should any form of machine from bookmakers, as well as the ability to use credit cards. It's all too easy to run up absolutely horrendous gambling debts these days, something needs to be done.

Ban Roulette machines, ban fruit machines and ban credit card facilities...

Putting in these machines was part of the reason I stopped going the bookies, got pissed off trying to put bets on when all you would get is gangs of chavs hanging around these machines, they attract the kids that shouldn't be anywhere near the bookies.

My brother's friend works at a car plant in Luton. He always works nights because of the better pay, i think he takes home over 2,200 pound a month. While at work on payday he will wait & countdown until midnight for his wages to go in & almost always gamble the whole lot away with hours on his phone. Can you believe that, gambling his months wages away on his iPhone. Shocking.!!!

He's another one like your mate KK who is always asking to borrow a tenner here & a score there just to gamble away again.

Anyone with dreams of beating the bookies consistently should try this http://www.footballforums.net/forums/showthread.php/283922-The-betting-challenge
If you cant show a profit using 10 and 20 cent bets then nor will you be able to do so with 100 quid plus bets
Its hard to keep track of your wins and losses at the bookies over the course of a given year but concentrating your yearly bets into a 7 or 14 days periord might give you some idea how the percentages work out
If you estimate that you put on say 300 bets over a 12 month periord put 300 ten and 20 cent bets on over a 14 days periord(a little over 20 a day)then at the end of the 14 days tot up how many lost and how many won
Could come as a bit of an eye opener and a graphic illustration why the bookies are so prosperous

GAMBLING IS A FORM OF ENTERTAINMENT,NOT A WAY OF MAKING MONEY

My mate tells me when he wins big on those roulette machines the feeling is better than the best sex he has ever had. He also told when he loses big he feels suicidal. No exaggerating !

I despise these machines... No way on earth these are random (like they lead you to believe). But I know where Aaron's coming from, exactly the same as my mate. If we both have days off, we regular have bookies days, following the cards etc... And he's the same as you, he's on the machine everytime we're waiting for a race, or while he's watching a race.

Yup, they give you that fix.

I know a lot of bookies in Sheffield that have extended their opening hours on certain days just for these machines, whilst also opening on days they would usually.

I agree with banning them, in fact I agree with banning anything controlled by a machine or computer completely.

I think it's about freedom of choice which would rule out banning anything like video slots, roulette machines, etc....

Reading through the last few posts, i dunno how people can afford to play them so frequently. My mate just plays them on the day he gets paid where as you guys &/or your friends seem to play them a lot more regular.
