You're looking at another very high Man City points total I think and they'd take some stopping. Few teams can live with them.

Chelsea are very strong and have the nucleus of the side who've won recent titles, with Jorginho and Kovavic added to that. It depends how they settle with the manager. Also have they got enough up front? Their titles have been won with a lethal centre forward (Costa, Drogba, Anelka).

Liverpool stronger than in a long time and with a better team and squad than last year.

Spurs and United a similar level to last season where they were 2nd and 3rd (Chelsea and Liverpool, maybe Arsenal, likely to improve though.

Arsenal a tougher task and perhaps the weakest of the 6 but the likes of Aubemeyang will score a shit load and maybe Lacazette to keep them more competitive. Should improve on last year.

I'd expect/hope another team to at least knock on the door of the top 6.

In terms of a title race there is a danger there won't be one and it'll be another procession for City. We're capable of putting a challenge in.

Will take a season or two before we’re ready to go up against that City side, IMO.

There’s just not enough goals in the side at the moment and we’ll concede a lot more playing under the new manager.

I just hope we stick with the manager long enough.

I think from a United perspective we will play better than at times last year without really challenging. We're still so short down the right hand side, it's a glaring weakness that Leicester nearly made the most of.

City looked out of sorts today but still cruised to a win, sterling looked hungry and they will only get better as the big hitters step back in.

Liverpool are going to be interesting, are they going to cut out some of there naivety the new signings suggest? Can they maintain the high energy for a full season across multiple competitions? 2nd favourites and rightly so.

I haven't got a clue how to rate Chelsea as yet, outsiders for the top 4 for me with morata and girould up top.

Spurs will pick up after a few weeks can they grind it out until then?

Arsenal are going to have a bat shit year I think, sometimes great often not. Depends if they can fit LMAO into the team and keep it balanced.

We showed ourselves to be the only English team to have City's number last season. Could be the difference should that happen again. Klopp has the best record of any manager against Guardiola and hopefully it continues.

I have my doubts though. City still favourites over 38 games and rightly so. Even with our recent spend it's difficult to compete with a team bankrolled by a country with zero regard with their income to expenditure ratio. Their squad depth as a result is immense. Just look at today, they start their first league game away against Arsenal with their best player on the bench. Ridiculous.

Lot of talk about how strong the top 4-6 are, but from what I can tell many of the rest are stronger too.
This will impact the total points figure for the top teams.

This will eventually get turned into a top 6 chat thread mate I made one last season.

Needless to say though you don’t belong here in either case

Unless Morata turns the page and can be a reliable scorer, then we won’t have a chance because by the time we bring in a new player or try an alternate approach, it’ll be too late for us in terms of a title race.

I think under the transition of style, City and Liverpool could light up the score board. Other clubs could too. We didn’t play great this weekend and got lucky because Huddersfield doesn’t have the attacking product to punish us but other clubs will. There will be games where we’ll look like world beaters and some where it will likely be the altnerative. Hopefully there’s enough of the former to get in the top 4.

No you didn't. Man Utd beat them in the league too. They had a better aggregate too.

If you're using competitions other than the Premier League then Wigan were the team to 'have their number' with the only 100% win ratio to play them.

Anybody could fluke a one-off against them if they are lucky (and Utd were - as always). To do it three times out of four; well I actually agree with Pags for once - we had their number. We'll see how it goes this season though.

I'm not disputing you 'had their number', I'm disputing that you were the only English side to do so.

Beating City doesn't win you titles, its consistency, 3 out of 4 is great but when trophies were handed out Liverpool werent there.

There is a difference between beating them 1 in 2, 1 in 1 and beating them 3 in 4. Only the latter involves enough games and victories for the expression to have accuracy in my opinion.
