I think you'll find he was top of his game at Southampton for a season and a half when he broke into the England set up and got his first cap, also when he finished second in the league for clean sheets. But yeah, giving him a 5 year deal was poor business. Can't defend that. Our board (les reed) were clowns.

Not sure what's happened with him. He was really good at us and you for a few years and just seems to have regressed badly. Not sure if we could afford his wages now but even if we could, I doubt Rodgers would bring him back as he likes the keeper to play the ball out with his feet (ie pass it out) and Forster is no use for that.

He got a bad knee injury and just hasn't been the same since really.

Yeah agree with that. Rodgers does like a ball player and Forster definitely isn't that! haha

He was the same keeper then that he was up here, ask Barcelona who he played four times (and other Champions league teams). Like you say he was also doing it for you so you know what he can do but if he's done he's done. So it's strange you gave him a 5 year deal on big wages if he's been that bad for you lately.

He's only 30 so has plenty years left in him, maybe a change of club can see him back to his best.

Tbf he was doing ok when he was given the contract but it was still a surprise he was given so long on such big wages. He was declining at the time. Les Reed was to blame for that one and many other mistakes as well, but he's been offed now so we are trying to have a clear out!

    Would be happy with McCarthy.

James McCarthy appears set to realise his boyhood dream and seal a loan deal to Celtic.

The Ireland star has just returned to full fitness following a broken leg and Everton will let him leave until the end of the campaign.

Fulham, West Brom, Bournemouth and Aston Villa have all made enquiries but the two clubs who are leading the chase are West Ham and the Glasgow giants.

Celtic believe the former Hamilton man will find it too hard to resist the lure of playing for his boyhood club and think they will pip the Hammers.

Papers running with Liverpool ready to make an £8 million offer for James Forrest.

Although he isn't at the level to play in Liverpools first team he would probably be a good squad player for them but £8 million would get you half of him so I am guessing it's a non story.

We just got 19m for Dom Solanke mate if we want to bid higher we can. Would be a strange move though imo.

They're talking about a summer move.

Like you say it's a strange one for me (if there's anything in it), Forrest is a very good player at our level and could play EPL at a certain level, probably mid table.

Would have to be a squad player for them, he wouldn't get near their starting eleven.

And they wouldn't get near him for £8m.

Loads of rumours flying about tonight regarding something happening tomorrow, too many names to mention.

    Time will tell.

Would be a great signing, McCarthy would be nice as well though.

Centre back from the Ivory Coast also getting a mention.

How many times have we heard this and it ends up being something daft.

Maybe we have bought Shamrock Rovers or the Hotel has a start date.

Hopefully it's a £15 million RB and Wanyama on a five year deal, fingers crossed.

If we're unfurling that flag for the 8th year in a row in August mate no one will be giving a jot if we had four or five loans or not.

They will if we go crashing out the CL qualifiers with Hendry and Ajer at the back. We need to be looking slightly further ahead than we appear to be imo.

    Wanyama's a midfielder though.

We're trying to get defenders in, also the summer window opens in June. We're not going into the qualifiers with Hendry and Ajer.

I really don't think we're signing Wanyama but surely no Celtic fan would knock him back?

I'm half joking mate. Not seen Wanyama for a bit so no idea what level he's at but it would be good to have him back if he is at the level he was before he left. I just wish we would be looking at bringing in more of our own players rather than all these loans.
