One of the two hardest ties Liverpool could have asked for alongside Nice, will be a tough challenge for Liverpool but with the second leg at home i will back them to progress.

I reckon in the other non champions ties Sevilla, CSKA, Napoli and Sporting will progress.

I think Celtic are favourites in their tie, but i think they will need to take a lead to Astana as they are a stronger side than Rosenborg imo and failure to take a lead there could prove costly.

Roberto Firmino to score against his old club?

Isn't their manager about 30 years old - already making a big name for himself.

I feel sorry for Hoffenheim, they work hard to get a CL place in a tough league, then when they can almost taste it, they get handed the toughest draw possible. Look at their faces...

Disclaimer: tough one for us too no doubt

We dispatched of Astana last season with a makeshift side, we should beat them with a couple goals to spare as they haven't added much quality since then and we have improved ten folds.

Don't think the pen was the correct decision so justice probably done. That said, what an horrific attempt it was from Kramaric.

Also expected Salah to race clear and bury his chance.

    Good, open start.

Typical Liverpool game - end to end stuff.

    Could have been 4-5.

Wow, only 2 posts about today's CL qualifier for Liverpool so far? :eyemouth:

First of all: Congrats to Liverpool for winning 2-1 at Hoffenheim, our "new boys" at this level

Maybe the game would be different if Kramaric (a Croatian) hadn't shot one of the worst penalties I've seen for a while. He must've thought that Mignolet is so shite that he even let this ball through if he aims directly at him with a shot power of a four year old.

The Hoffs were a bit too nervous for me in their first ever match at this level. You could see this especially when they played the ball from the back (normally that's one of their biggest assets, today they created some chances for Liverpool with a too risky play at the back)

Hoffenheim is still too wet behind the ears at this level, the experience will come ....in the Europa League. Again, congrats to Liverpool, they deserved the win.

I seldom write in these club sections when they play international matches. It's too hard to find, it's easier for me to look in the proper international threads (here CL thread)

I know they're a 'footballing' side but we're the worst team to play like that against, play the ball out from the back & lose it. They're a good side. I think they'll be hoping Mane is injured for the 2nd leg.

I know it is only Astana but Sinclair looks like a very good player, he has great movement.

Am I not understanding the rule? I thought any kind of head injury the ref stops the game?
