    New season. New thread.

Celtic are losing. Surely they can't balls this one up.

United to get to the Quarters at least. Bayern probably will be early favourites.

Celtic and Legia Warsaw both out. Probably the two shocks of the qualifiers tonight.

Rest of the favourites have done OK.

Not starting a striker in a champions league qualifier is criminal.

Had a bet on Ferencvaros tonight as they’ve been in good form and can remember them doing okay in the europa league last season.. great result for them :laugh:

    Yes, that's a shock, tbh.

I know it's all about the 5 years ranking of the UEFA and how the leagues perform but it's so damn sad that the Champions of Scotland's Premiership and Poland's Ekstraklasa are not qualified directly for the Champions League and had to go through Qualifying rounds. It's not okay imo.

****ing mental nonetheless. CL final on Sunday and the qualifying for the new CL is already in the 2nd round. At least the new CL won't begin before the old CL has ended

Agreed that they shouldn't have to do so much to qualify after winning their leagues.

They'll really have to make amends in the Europa this season. The Glasgow clubs did a lot of good for the Scottish coefficients last season, it'd be a shame to not built on that.

Not having that. They've proven last night why they don't get an automatic spot in the groups.

To be fair I said I don't think they should have to do so much rather than suggesting they automatically qualify.

Having to hurdle four qualifying rounds after winning your league is a bit excessive imo when other clubs can now finish 4th and go straight in to the group stage

The system is rigged too far in favour of the bigger nations.

That's fair. I'd say the final qualifying round would be about right but they just don't have the quality or the coefficient ranking to warrant going in at the group stage imo.

Ultimately Celtic are by no means the most hard done by, you could make the same argument of every European champion.

Celtic / Scotland get a better deal than other nations and by being seeded also had the draw in their favour.

All the likes of Celtic and Legia Warsaw can do is build their coefficients each season so the system is leaning in their favour.

Last season did a lot of good for Scottish football with both Glasgow teams doing well. The four Scottish teams need to make sure they get through Europa League qualifying now to build on it. I don't think Scotland are that far away from sneaking an automatic group position so last night will sting.

Look we all know that in a perfect world the champions of every country in Europe would qualify, and nobody else except the defending champions, unfortunately greed has seen that those days are gone.

Not checked. Are we going to see the same joke as last season with serial CL bottlers Manchester City as favourites?

So, just checked. City second favourites for the Champions League after Bayern.

You really have to f**king laugh. They're dogshit in Europe and haven't had so much as a sniff of the CL under Guardiola or anyone else. How the f**k are they anywhere near the top of the list?

Stupid question. Why does anyone care about anything? Tell you what, let's just post about our own clubs and not mention anything about any others. After all, why care if it doesn't directly involve you or your club?

It's a football forum. It's a footballing subject. And it's an amusing subject given City's form in Europe. It's not about caring, it's about finding it funny and seeing if others agree or disagree.

    Hope this helps.
