Can we just concur that was the manager making a point tonight. We should have qualified tonight if the manager had played our strongest team. I mean, just put the game to bed and qualify and then rest the players you need to for the Brighton game. Never trust or start a player who is clearly disinterested in impressing or for that matter f*cking pressing.I couldn't believe what I was seeing ,its almost like he removes himself from the situation by getting as far away from the play as possible.
They came with a point to prove after the mauling at their place and deserved it.
Brighton is more important.
Absolutely. We could qualify for the knockout rounds top, and go out in the last 16 like last year, whilst there are 38 games and a league to compete for domestically. Hence Brighton is by far the more important game this week.
I agree. It’ll be a tough away game too so no time for resting players.
Think we only need a point to go through now and can't see us losing to Ajax so that should be it.
as forrest gump's t short guy would say. s*** happens.
I hadn't much expectations before the game but a couple guys reinforced ideas in my head.
origi as per. I would have shifted him to wide left after 15mins and had him off at ht personally.
but neco williams every time I see him I want him to do well but he is so awkward looking in the ball. his first touch and idea of control seems to be to close himself off and flip it from his strong foot onto his weak one or to turn his back on play and hope. I really feel like he's going to get it stuck under his feet and robbed or get turned and lose it in bad areas. its a very bad habit imo. he has almost no ball forward when he does it as well which is a problem.
bit worried by Saturday as.milner need up playing 90 again so who is playing rb???
I know we didn't need a result but that was dogshit . Ah well, no new injuries and onto Brighton.
We were shite but it's a 3 goal aggregate win... all we need is a draw next time out to go through, would've been nice to have got the job done yesterday but I'll live with the context adding to the poor performance.
Mane particularly looks knackered. Hope we've a couple more who can at least make the bench for Brighton.
Pressing was off. I love Divock but he was lethargic to be kind.
Didn't help the reserve full backs tonight that their positions are key when we play well, they haven't been with us long or are v young & they're backing up the two best in the world, but it was a noticeable drop off.
Neco in particular, anyone else notice his body shape when receiving the ball doesn't help him? He looks to be lacking a little confidence. Tsimikas you can see a player in him though, probably the fact that Robbo has been our best player so far this season that made me judge him more harshly than he deserved last night, there were worse than him.
Yeah we saw in one of the league cup games that Tsimikas will become a fine addition to the squad once fully integrated.
I read on Kicker.de that Liverpool will play their CL match against the Danes from Midtjylland (or so) in the Westfalenstadion (or as they call it now Signal Iduna Park). Kloppo back in Dortmund!
Eine ungewöhnliche Rückkehr zum BVB: Klopp spielt mit Liverpool in Dortmund
edit: Just one day later it's changed: The match between the Danes and Liverpool will be played in Denmark nonetheless. ( Seems that there's a 14 days quarantine for people who come from Denmark into the UK (that would be the LFC players when they return from Denmark) .
But now it seems LFC gets an exception.
Midtjylland gegen Liverpool nun doch nicht in Dortmund
its easy get an exception. the issue is its even easier get covid.
stupid decisions imo.
we ought to try win this group tomorrow and send absolute reserve team off out there.
Ajax come into the match with six wins from six whereas Liverpool have only won one of their last four.
You'd still expect Liverpool to win with the strength of their front six but Ajax have a good chance against whatever defence Liverpool end up putting out.
Think this will go to the last game. Not got any confidence of a result against Ajax tonight with the squad as it is just now.
Ajax are in good form, but look at the sides they've been beating. 13-0 win away from home in a league game says more about the standard of the rest of the league than it does about Ajax imo.
The majority of their league games have come against sides in the bottom half of the Eredivisie I believe.
Yeah, that's hardly a vote of confidence in Adrian. Kelleher!
