Yeah don't they go through based on results between the two now?

Feels like a weak bunch for the 2nd placed teams this season. Glad Liverpool have pissed their group.

    Think so.

    AC Milan ahead in Madrid.

They will be hoping you field a weaken team for the last game as it’s a 3 way battle for 2nd.

Hopefully Atletico finish bottom, couldn't care less which go through between the others though.

    Professional performance by the lads.

More importantly, **** off Diego Simeone.

@Donnyrovers90 : Congrats to Sporting. Fully deserved win to get #2 spot

absolutely. I wrote it last weekend in the Bundesliga thread that Dortmund is a bit of a lame duck without Haaland.
Now the 3rd loss in a row in the Champions-League (2-times Ajax and Sporting) with 2-10 goals. And this after a promising start with 2 wins in the first 2 matches.

 Still the Real fan boy? ;)

Absolutely incredible night! I love Pote, love Amorim, love Inacio, just love this whole team we have.

The atmosphere was electric and we fully deserved that win. Amorim seemingly learned so much from those first two games in the group stage.

What a time to be a Sporting fan!!

Played 5, won 5. Absolutely walking the group without breaking a sweat.

Shame our consistency in Europe can't be replicated in the league.

Congratulations to young Morton on his Champions League debut ,to show that much poise and intelligence with the ball at 19 is unbelievable and then to go one further by helping yourself to a 50 yard pass to Salah ,no wonder the manager had a grin as wide as the Mersey when he was asked about his contribution in tonight's game. Now I'm just going to wax lyrical about one of the best strikes I've seen in our yard since Gerrard left ,the technique needed to control the trajectory and spin of that ball so there was no deviation to its path was just extraordinary. I knew Thiago was a great player but the beauty of that strike completely lit up the game and the Kop.

15 points and one game left in Milan ,exceptional stuff !

This Tyler Morton kid looks special doesnt he? Slotted into the side no problem, some lovely passes by him during the game.

Also thought Neco and Ox had real good games, Ox seems to be finding his old form back, Neco looking far more mature these days too, looks like the games he's getting for Wales are bringing him along nicely, didnt look out of place last night as he often has done in the past.

Thiago, wow, sweet goal and another top class performance from him, just please stay fit ffs, Ive seen people suggesting Thiago has been a bit of a flop, ridiculous suggestion, just his fitness and recovery from injuries (gets a slight knock and he's out for months) are the issues for me, once fully fit he's absolutely world class. If we can just keep him and Fabinho fit for the remainder of the season we'll win a pot or two, no doubt about it.

Absolutely walked a real tough group, nice to see.

Could watch that all day long. Perfect technique. Our goal of the season this year is already ridiculous and it's only November. . .

    Thiago on Morton

First of all, I love to train and play alongside the young players,” he said. “To have this hunger, this starting point of their careers, and also to give some teaching words for them, to make their path a bit brighter and better.

“It happened with Tyler. The first time he came, I said ‘who is this player?’, because he was training amazing with us.“He deserved to be part of the team tonight. He did an amazing game as well. I think he will have a bright and great career, here at Liverpool and in football in general.

“We’re really happy to have him and I’m really glad to play with him tonight.”

Just need to keep the lads talented feet on the floor ,but he has a massive career ahead of him.

Talking of Milner, I can understand a kid whose a little naive and still finding his feet picking up a needless booking but an experienced 35 yr old steeped in the game drawing a yellow 'for what I think was encroachment' ,obviously knowing if he's booked he misses the Milan game ?

He was on the pitch all of 6 mins before he bounced into a player and then went on to pick up the now familiar obligatory booking ,its disappointing as he would have been useful in Milan alongside some of the less experienced midfielders.

I love Milner and like every Kopite I love his appetite for the battle, but sometimes in games he can suddenly present opportunities for our opponents to get a foothold in the game by conceding silly and easily avoided free kicks.

Do the bookings carry on after the group stage? I got the impression he was wanting the yellow card hanging over his head gone for the knockout stage?

Not that I'm aware of mate. I understand him using a dead rubber of a game to abstain from ,but I still think he would have been useful in Milan as an experienced midfielder because now the manager has no option but to play someone like Henderson or Fabinho shepherding the likes of Morton in Milan and will the yellow he received seem as clever if one of them gets injured ?
