Tomorrow begins the 12th Women's Euro in the Netherlands. All you want to know about it (or not) :

UEFA Women's EURO - UEFA Women's EURO 2017 finals: all you need to know

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Women's_Championship

The big (or only?) question could be: Which team can prevent the damn Germans to win another title (they won 8 titles in 9 appearances, 6 in a row since 1995). ;)

I like women's football (not only because our girls are even better in winning titles than the boys ;) )

p.s: If you're not interested in Women's football in general or this women's Euro it's okay. But, please, no derogatory comments about women's football in this thread. There are already some of those threads here, use these threads if you must spout your views.

Well we did pip you to 3rd in the World Cup!

England v Scotland coming up - if the ladies win that they'll say they are better than our man.

Opening match today: Netherlands vs Norway

Already 2 of the leading nations in women's football right from the beginning.
Tomorrow a (women's) classic Germany vs Sweden.

This was the final of 2 Women's Euros (1995, 2001), 1 World Cup final (2003) and the latest Olympic final (2016). Germany won all of them (but always after a hard fight and only the slightest margin of 1 Goal). We're a bit like the nemesis for Sweden when it comes to the k.o stages.

England (another top nation in women's football) has the first match against Scotland on Tuesday.

Right. After losing against the (later winner) USA in the semi-final our ladies were hugely disappointed. And England won deservedly in the "little final" with 1-0 a.e.t

No derogatory comments about women's football, OK.

Hang on then, I'll think of something positive to say about it....

    Hmmmmm :waiting

    Er....

    It's finished by July 27th.

That's as positive as I can get tbh.

Fair enough. I already knew your opinion about women's football (from this thread: Anyone else getting a bit fed up of women's football?). It's okay, if you don't like it (I don't like cricket so I stay away from the creekit thread here. Hope you'll do the same here ;) )

I don't follow it that much, bar watching the odd international or CL game when they are on. Any time I watch Germany or the US team they seem head and shoulders ahead of everybody else I see. So you would imagine Germany will probably win bar a huge slice of luck. There are one or two teams that could park the bus and steal a win.

That 0-0 was to be expected when 2 of the top favourites are playing against each other in the group. Sweden was so sure that they'll win for the first time against Germany in 22 years that they were a bit overmotivated. Our team has some newbies in a tournament (and our coach Steffi Jones is a a newbie as coach at a tournament too). In the second half it was a better match with 2 excellent chances for Bundesliga topscorer Mandy Islacker and Sweden had one too.

The Big One tonight though! England v Scotland, the opening game in Group D. Starts on C4 at 7 kick-off 7.45.

The first ever meeting of the two teams at a major championship as it's Scotland's first ever appearance at a major championship so they'll be desperate to do well, especially against England.

    Comon the Lionesses :winner

Congrats England. I've changed the TV program (watched it via Eurosport) after the 3-0 at halftime because it was already decided then. A big gap in class between England and Scotland.

Watching Scotland v Portugal 0-0 atm half an hour in, rooting for the Lady Sweaty Socks hope they get the win :hiding

Then England v Spain later (7.45). Few beers and a takeaway and some footy... i've had worse Sunday's.

Edit: Terrible defensive error and Portugal take the lead with their first chance. Not really deserved tbh Scotland will be out if they lose this.

Good luck for the Lionesses. As always I'll keep my fingers crossed for them (except when they play against Germany)

Cheers Dirk, and the same for Germany got total respect for your team. As ever they'll be very near the final and probably in it. Hopefully playing England ;)

Scotland equalised but as i'm typing this a root one goal from the keeper gives Portugal the lead again. Looking bad for Scotland now.

They did well to be fair, pretty cruel i'm not sure how they managed to lose that game. The scots goal was a great one as well btw.

If England beat Spain they'll be through.

Really does sound like a typical Scottish performance then!

Had them do to win - probably explains why they lost!!

Bit of a slow burner this tournament - not many of the big nations have come out firing like England did the other night.

Haha aye true, they just seem to always find a way to lose!

And ye, Germany and France to name two that have had slow starts, it's there for England to put their stamp on it.

England unchanged i'm pleased to hear. Hard to change it after the Scotland result. Hope Jodie can start where she left off on Wednesday.

Going to be a lot tougher though, but getting through with a win with a game to spare should be enough motivation.

    Comon the Lionesses!
