Football isn't supposed to be precise...however, the point of VAR is unfortunately, to improve precision.

I can't understand the disagreement about the penalty decision with Fabinho and McBurnie in that sense? Yes without VAR it'd have been a free-kick to the human eye and move on.
But with VAR, it's shown to be on the line and unfortunately, has to be given as a penalty with that knowledge in hand.

Its a foul, there's no doubt about that, he didn't touch the ball, it continued to roll in the same direction as it had been before he made the challenge and at the same speed. He clipped McBurnie after a lunge at him when he wasn't even facing goal. Poor decision, poor challenge.

As for the offside call in the same game, that wasn't exactly one of these extremely tight calls we have seen even last week for example. As Daz has said, it was clear enough that you could see it at full speed

Not gonna complain about the VAR decision for the goal today, but honestly, what's the point in them going the screen? It's just window dressing and they've been told to change their mind.

Why not? It's never a foul, you've got to throw your body at that, it's there to be won

I’m done with even being angry at it now. It’s just ruining the game completely.

His arm. I’ve no idea how they’ve ruled that as offside. Utter joke.

It goes through to the top of his shoulder which is a legal part of the body. But it’s still yet another ridiculously anal decision. Thankfully it didn’t matter.

It should change to any part of head or feet. Yes you can score with your shoulder but how often does that happen ffs.

Honestly it should just be the feet. No need to draw silly lines and watch different angles, it's a marginal decision either way and feet would be the easiest way to chekc it

As said before if it needs lines putting up they should just go with the on field decision.

Does anyone think the refs are getting it wrong on purpose so they scrap VAR altogether?

Your goal was more down to the ref being rubbish as MD says.

The ref should have seen the foul in the first place, but he went and watched Solly March chop down but he their player dozens of times from multiple angles and still got it wrong. The blame falls on the ref and VAR.

I think that Brighton goal is possibly the worst yet. How could he watch that 10 times and still think there was no foul?

    Laughably bad.

This is why VAR should never have been used when it comes to fouls. It's ultimately still a matter of opinion so what's the point? It just wastes time and pisses everyone off even more.

Keep it for offsides and put everything into improving the current (shit) Paint Shop Pro system.

they did the same to us with mane to rob us, of course its ruining the game. we only got laughed at though.

It seems that if the outside of the sleeve of your shirt is not the line, not the armpit as it was last year then it just becomes even more farcical.

all this does is totally bias decisions one way or the other. Its actually impossible to get a tight onside call now as the guy can fiddle til he finds some way to draw a line to back up the linesman.

its completely biased to the defending team as they only need to lean forward. they no longer have to defend.

Neither of the first two goals should have stood. Its crazy that pen got given and the foul on holberg was crazy.

I agree as the defenders intent is then taken in. If a defender is playing offside they will be facing away form goal or striding out so a trailing leg is "common" if a forward is doing their job they ought to be heading towards goal so leaning in.

The forward gets a big advantage there as today any part of his body leaning towards goal puts him offside. if its the front foot they might get a big advantage and it would force defenders to run back and not play the offside trap or sprint out and hope.

As i stands it looks like you just stand up and do nothing and you've a fair change of offside but on the other hand if you touch a player at all, or have arms or even touch someone close to a penalty area you give a goal away via a cheap pen.

So to sum it up, forwards can't run onto the ball as they are offside via a sleeve but if they wait and draw contact of flick the ball off an opponents arm is an ironed on pen. game for divers now.
