Villa were 13th and 3 points outside the Play-offs when Pep Smith took over and are now 11th and 5 points outside the play offs

Two positions higher and further away than when he started. Best squad in the league they said. Get rid of Bruce they said.

Didn’t see the game today but there’s always been a huge sense of entitlement about Smith which lends itself perfectly to the sense of entitlement about Villa.

Awful lot of bitterness in here, I can almost smell lemons. If a bad run of form includes scoring 14 goals in 5 games, I hate to see how we'll play once we have a good run of form, and more importantly, a defence.

With all due respect, why would anyone be bitter towards Villa right now?

Just look at the comments by our local rivals. They seem to be reveling in our supposed decline, when we've not come anywhere near our peak this season yet. Perhaps it's small man (or in this case, club) syndrome relating to their far more illustrious neighbours, but then I'm just brainstorming.

Oooh there it is again lol. That big club mentality:)

This small club beat Leeds on their own patch this season and that’s without being able to sign a player for almost two years.

Yeah well from the guys that count. . . the fans, i am happy to pay my money to watch attractive football .We have come through a tough run of matches and pretty much matched or beaten all of the so called better teams bar Norwich and Leeds .God knows where those two are in the league .Bruce saved this club from oblivion of which Iam grateful for that but that style of football has run it's course across the country. Dean Smith believes in positive attractive football and I for one am enjoying it a great deal .Early days, in Dean we trust.

Above the the Villa at Christmas. I wonder if they'll be a parade and if the Noses will get lost in their "own city" trying to find Sherlock Street.

Lost one in 8 against Bolton, Small Heath, Forest, Stoke and Leeds at home and Derby, Boro and Albion away, with the utterly disgraceful imbalance Spud Head left us with. We've played under Smith sides in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th.

A couple of poor performances isn't going to change the significant improvements.

Despite the huge issues with the defence of Bruce's making, we've looked better than everybody but the excellent Leeds. I'll take being within striking distance of the Play Offs and a run of fixtures that includes QPR, Wigan, Hull, Reading and Ipswich, Swansea and Preston.

If we're not in the top six by Frebeuary, then you can shoot your bat again Nose.

I appreciate we are crap and should be no match for the mighty Villa with all their history and billions but we did ok in the reverse fixture. You should know by now there are no mug teams in this league and I just hope the players have your attitude.

You probably will be top six given the squad you have but there’s huge pressure on Smith, the likes of which he’s never really experienced, and the players to get you up this year and it looks from the outside like the owners are gambling on him getting it done with the money for the goalkeeper.

It warms the cockles of this old Blues heart to read that post and realise that being 3 places below us (a team that haven’t been able to buy a player in nearly two years whilst yous must have spent over £100 million at least in that time) is acceptable to you lads.

Not sure if you’re further down the table now than when Brucey left but if it’s ok with you it’s ok with me.

I’d like to wish yourselves and your families a wonderful Xmas, eat drink and be merry cos we certainly will be and take solace from your leaders quote from 2 years back

"I hope in five years, or after five years, we will talk of this club as Madrid or Barcelona,"

Of course it does, as we're all you care about.
