He loves an excuse does Dean. Apparently he put up an alternative league table at your place showing where you’d be if decisions had gone your way- higher than your actual position, naturally.

Wish I could do that at my work.

It's a poor run coinciding with injuries to our key players, leaving Bruce's moronic purchasing policy laid bare. The squad is all over the show.

That said, since Rodriguez scored that touch down, it's 1 win, 1 defeat and 3 draws. So it's more meh than poor.

Was it him in charge of making the transfers though?

During the summer yes. Purslow didn't join until 1st September.

Not really down to Smith, that's the stats guys, and actually not as crazy as you're thinking.

His twitter says he's the owner and chairman, so I imagine he is still quite hands-on despite selling a large portion?

I imagine Smith will get a big wedge to spend anyway with all the new cash floating about.

I'm not sure, surely they're very close to failing FFP?

He's not a member of the board and has had his shares diluted to a point where yesterday Companies House confirmed he was no longer a shareholder of any significance. This meaning he's now below 25%.

I doubt it, FFP seems to only work on teams who use it badly whereas those who avoid the loopholes get away with it. There's a chance Villa could carry on spending and be fine.

Ok, but theoretically owning 24% of the company is still quite a large chunk? And if he is still the chairman then the day to day running will still be under himself.
If I were a Villa fan I'd want a new chairman asap as he seems too unstable.

If they don’t go up this season it’ll be interesting as they’ve made no effort, as far as I can see, to do anything but gamble on promotion. I’m happy to be educated on this as it’s not something I know loads about but if we can get hammered by the FL for our losses, I’d have thought Villa’s will be worse.

We agreed out of court something like £20m and a transfer embargo.

He isn't on the board. He is therefore not the chairman. He has an ever decreasing minority shareholding and has no control as he isn't on the board.

He'll be completely gone by the summer.

On his twitter it says he's the chairman.

Weird bloke, I think you will do better without him.

A weird bloke indeed....suited the Vilers very well: twitter rants that would make Donald Trump question his sanity yet the Vilers absolutely lapped him up

That's because he's not amended his status. Nassef Sawiris is chairman.

Must say despite me not buying into the theory that they’re the best team in history and we are lucky to share a division with them, I did not see that result coming. Pressure must be on him a bit now.
