Ten by Pearl Jam - 8.5/10

4 or 5 absolutely superb songs on this. "Once", "Black", "Even Flow", "Alive" and "Jeremy" my personal favourites.

Power, Corruption and Lies - 7/10

"Age of Consent" is superb and the rest of the album is a good listen too. "5-8-6" probably the second best song on the album, but "Leave Me Alone" is really good too.

I rarely listen to albums now, preferring to either make a playlist or just select songs and listen to random songs through my iTunes.

I think the last album I played all the way through was The National’s I Am Easy To Find..

I have to listen to albums personally, if it’s new I’ll listen a few times and then my fave tracks go on playlists. And if it’s an old one it’s always good to listen to the full album, makes you appreciate the artist more and you can come across some gems you might forget about when making playlists.

These days when I buy a new album I’ll play it as incidental background music a few times while I’m in the house and then my ear will eventually pick out the stand out tracks.

I’m with Josh on Pearl Jam’s debut though, album is class throughout..

    Glassjaw - Worship and Tribute

5/5 This thing is an all time classic from the post-hardcore genre, if you're a fan of some seriously angular guitar work this is the album for you.

This is Ape Dos Mill one of their most accessible songs and generally the place where I tell people to start with them.

This is my favourite song of the album, the chorus 'This is worship and this is tribute Am I crumbling, ripping or failing? knowing you fit in' which is the culmination of a lot of the themes of the album of how the individual (in the west) is constantly being torn apart, urged to conform to a society that submits and worships the powers that be (the government and media etc.) Pretty powerful shit for a song written in the shadows of 9/11 (the band is from New York)

Led here tonight by Christy Moore, some happy memories of the early 80s in working up the west coast of Ireland over 3 or 4 years summer hols. fantastic Guiness, food and music.

Now I remember why prog rock faded in my interests and Planxty, Christy and Kathryn Tickell gained credibility.

I listened to Noonday Dream by Ben Howard last week. My first time listening to anything by Howard and it was a nice, east going listen. Probably the sort of music to listen to if you want to relax.

I'd give this album a solid 7/10 but it probably wouldn't be for everyone

Tool's new one - better than expected from the lead single.

Only just got round to listening to this gem - so many people (quite rightly) like The Fall but I really think people forget just how much range the group(s) also had. This was an album made to accompany a ballet performance ffs.

Saturday night is Music night .

For me music is about moods , I've GP Hub this morning , a potential argument over warranty times with Halfords , at Posh v Sunderland this afternoon all of this with a heavy cold.

Could be some New York Hardcore coming up if the above go t*ts up.

If you like Pearl Jam you’ll probably like those two bands.

Yeah, Alice In Chains and the two Chris Cornell bands are worth listening our for if you’re into PJ. I’d also give a shout out to Stone Temple Pilots first couple of records..

I just love this band. They give me everything I need from music and I just love their whole image. Very retro too.
