I'm sure there's a logic for it. We have to succession plan in that time as well, I've got a feeling our team won't be so lop sided to the left in terms of goalscorers in a few years time anyway. I think it'll be looking more balanced.

Great news for Arsenal but feel they need to push on some more in this transfer window to match the ambition they've probably promised him.

Always a wonderful player to watch so glad he's staying in the prem.

Right now arsenal look to have resolved a good lot of issues with young players and decent transfer dealings.

If arteta can keep the defensive side improving they can go places but away day flakyness is the next open question.

One midfielder and I think we'll be done. Arteta has told Willian he want to win the CL in 3 years, probably told Aubameyang the same!

A lot of people suspect we'll bring in two midfielders but I'd be very surprised if it happens.

Yep. That's the ambitious project he sold him.

    Ambition is good right?

I mean, it isn't out of the question. Klopp had Liverpool in a final by his second full season, and won it by the third. Not quite comparable since both managers at totally different stages... but the state of the clubs going in is comparable.

I've said before though, I don't know if Arteta is the man to take Arsenal that sort of distance... but I do think he can get them on track again to eventually get there. The club has very little European pedigree of that sort to go off is the real issue imo.

1 Champions League/European Cup final in the entire history?

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to sit here and tell you that we’re right to aim for that target in three years.

Arteta has lofty ambitions. And he strikes me as a manager who will leave if he feels he’s not been given the right tools to succeed. That’s said, he’s already been given a de facto promotion and I suspect he has more power than Emery ever did.

The only credible thing said in this whole thread. Arsenal will remain a joke as long as it has clueless owners who see the clubs as a nice bit of portfolio.

An extra days rest for you but a tougher game in the League Cup, not that it'll matter to much as I suspect we'll both be playing the squad players in the league cup .
