    Gündogan has Covid-19.

Got to be serious questions about whether the game can go ahead if there's spread within the Man City squad.

This will be the second season on the bounce where you start without a world class center half given that it's a safe bet Laporte will again be a bit part player this season. Ake's decent but still falls short of the requirement and Koulibaly looks not to be happening. I'm surprised Pep hasn't gone balls out to sort it. Especially now you have effectively been given the green light to spend what you want and when you want with no comeback.

Anyway, can see Wolves getting a point here.

    2-2

We underperformed massively last season with that squad, and I'm basing a large part of my confidence on the assumption we'll have a fully fit Laporte. We conceded 6 goals in the 15 games he featured in last season, and 29 in the other 23 that he missed. His influence on the team is VVD-like.

In terms of this squad vs last season, obvious David Silva will be a huge miss, but Foden is more than ready to step up. I'm not counting Sané as a loss, because he didn't play last year anyway, so actually Torres is an extra attacking option, and Aké is a great addition at the back, imo.

A World Class CB alongside Laporte should make us favourites.

    Based on what exactly?

He's only missing because he's hardly trained after self-isolating from having Coronavirus.

Well everyone else will have taken tests and come back negative. So it'll happen.

For some reason I had it in my head he'd had virtually no part of City's run in last season. Ignore.

Silva is still levels ahead of where Foden is and will be by the end of the season in fairness, he's a talented young player but naturally will need a bit of time to fill those boots, if they are even fillable! It's more the leadership aspect though, we saw how fragile you were last year without Kompany's guidance, now Silva has gone too, the only 'leaders' left in the team with elite mentality from what I can see are Fernandinho, Aguero and KDB- with the former two being made of glass.

I should clarify I still think you have the best squad in the league, I just think the manager have going off the boil a bit.

It's inevitable that the desire goes a little once you're at the top, even if it's subconsciously. But there will be a lot of motivation for City to come back strong this season, especially after the relative embarrassment last time round. I'm expecting things to be mighty close this season.

Rory Delap's son Liam is on the bench for City, which makes me feel old.

Doubt he'll get on, but would be good to see him, he's nothing like his dad and looks an incredibly talented centre forward.

In that case he's probably already six months ahead of schedule.

Well, I wasn’t expecting that level of performance in the first half. Absolutely superb.

Got to imagine we’ll suffer a bit in the 2nd half, surely can’t maintain that level of intensity.
