Also just backs up what Punk said really. The crowd were chanting his name on Dynamite and Tony Schiavone looked visibly embarrassed on commentary during the whole segment. Like Bubba Ray says it better pop a rating or what was the point it made Jack Perry & TK look like pussies and just put Punk over more.
They started chanting his name, then after the crowd saw the shove, a extra word was added to the chant, which definitely did not sound like they were supporting Punk. The footage was massively overhyped tbh. He came in and shoved Perry, then tried to grab him. Looks like Joe and Hook broke it up, so Punk tried to fight Khan instead, and was talked out of it. However, as already said, without audio we have no idea exactly what happened.
Video didn't show anything that hasn't already been said. On an issue where everybody has already taken their sides, long ago. What morons.
Punk has also posted what seems to be a slightly longer video, where the chat goes on maybe 20 seconds more before the altercation
I get having the right of reply and feeling the need to correct some mistruth that may or may not have been said. All you have to do is leak the footage. Making it a part of your show in what is a very transparent attempt to grab viewers is just shit promoting. 'We're going to show this altercation between two wrestlers.' 'Wow, cool, so when are they going to have a match?' 'Oh, one of them doesn't work for us anymore'. What's the point? Being rich, having a degree in finance or having the ability to put on 5 star bangers does not automatically mean you are capable of running a big promotion. Being a good promoter makes you a good promoter.
Jack Perry barely works for them nowadays too so it was very pointless. Feels like The Young Bucks are behind it to try and piss Punk off they probably twisted TK's arm he believes any shit they tell him I reckon.
I reckon he did it because all Punk does is whine about AEW, and Khan had the choice of either continuing to let Punk tell everybody how awful they are, and how Punk is right, or release thw foorage, which looks like Punk is to blame for the fight (obviously we son't have audio, so don't have the full picture). It was kind of a lose lose for Khan.
If you're having a verbal altercation with somebody literally anywhere else, be that at work, in school, out in public etc, if the CCTV shows you being a physical aggressor first, it then puts you in a very difficult position. Jack Perry may have said something untoward, but to me it looks more like he's immaturely acting "not bothered", brushing his hair away and likely saying "yeah yeah, whatever" to Punk telling him off. Punk has waited until a moment when Perry's hands are away (brushing his hair) and gone for the shove followed by the grab/choke. Punk was supposed to be the veteran. Without knowing what was said, he should still know better than to react like he did, and to say otherwise is frankly blinkered. I don't like that it was broadcast and I don't like that it's been used in a storyline, I don't like that Tony Khan has felt the need to retaliate not only to the Punk comments but also the Ospreay bashing, but I also don't like that Punk decided to open his mouth about it. The classy thing to do would've been for all parties to leave it alone, but to quote something a child in a fight might say, "He started it".
Tbf Punk only answered the questions Helwani asked him in the interview not all of it was about AEW (I am assuming you haven't watched it) it's actually quite refreshing because when Tony was asked the same questions he didn't have the balls to answer them.
Yes I did, I particularly remember the part where Punk said he "didn't punch anyone, he just choked somebody a little bit" and yet by the footage we can see that Punk conveniently missed out the part where he, and he alone, starts the physical altercation. I don't particularly care if Tony has the balls to answer something or not, I'd rather they take a note from Premier League managers and say something like "not my player, not my team" etc and just let shit go. Leave it for legends to make shitty podcasts about 10 years down the line.
While I still don't thi k airing it was the right thing to do, turns out there was some benefit. Jack Perry's tshirt sold out. I'd be amazed if any were selling. He's a good wrestler, but he isn't a big draw that you would expect to sell tonnes of merch.
