It is. You've been to Hamburg before?

Of course, not. Although only lost 1-2 but it's Atletico. Most likely :bye Borussia.

It isn't. Unfortunately Hamburg as it was is gone forever thanks to the efforts of my ancestors in 1943.

I have been twice. Might be there again either late Summer, or in late Autumn - or both! I have mainly stayed around St. Pauli district. Never been to a game yet though.

Chose to watch Arsenal/Bayern on Tuesday as Real/City happens more or less every season. First half was decent while the second was a snoozefest. Not sure if I caught @Oli H. 's analysis but thought the players responded well to the occasion especially after conceding early on. Wouldn't fault Raya entirely as Bayern's first as Gabriel could have hoofed it but it was a good finish. Well taken pen by Kane. Real/City was spectacular if not for meh goals in the first half.

Went to PSG/Barça and we showed how lacklustre our midfield is. Good reaction in the second half but terrible defending. How can we be in the quarters and not know how to defend set-pieces is beyond me. Absolutely awful. Mbappé shocking, Gigio terrible. Progressing is still possible though as Barça aren't that great. We'll have Hakimi back for the return which could change things. You never know.

Can't find decent cider on the continent to save your life, flavoured kopparberg maybe but nothing else.

I'm not much into cider, but always thought the French were supposed to be pretty good at it?

    I said decent cider.
Went to Marseille for England v Russia in 2016, couldn't find cider at all. Bar staff literally had no idea what I was talking about. Ended up drinking absinthe instead, was proper ****ed up.

Going from trying to get a cider to getting absinthe is heroic.

I can't drink beer, it tastes absolutely horrendous to me. The barman was sick of my questions by the point he offered me absinthe and with a crammed bar I just wanted to get something and get back out into the plaza.
Not sure what it was mixed with to be honest but it was white.

Are you sure it wasn't pastis? It has a relatively similar taste to absinthe but is weaker. You mix it with water and it turns it white.

You can also mix absinthe with water, but since you were in Marseille it wouldn't surprise me if you were actually given pastis. It's super popular there.

He said absinthe but it's possible I guess. All I know is it didn't take many of them to do the same thing double digit pints would.

Fair enough, he either quite liked you in the end or hated and wanted to poison you.

I'm expecting a similar performance to the City game from a few weeks ago. In fact, I think all of our away performances this season in the CL have been measured in approach from the outset.

We have to show we have threat on the break. This team can defend when it wants to but we need to be clever and measured on the counter. My first reaction is to think that Bayern will look to get on the ball and control the game. They're at home and they're the favourites (with the bookies at least)

    Raya
    White Saliba Gabriel Tomiyasu
    Rice Jorginho
    Saka Odegaard Jesus
    Havertz

I really want us to get through. All the other times we've got this far, we've had distractions i.e trying to win the league, being in the FA Cup, trying to make top 4 again. And I think by the time the semi-finals come round, there is every chance the title is gone for us. So we can put all our eggs in this basket without fear of dropping out the top 4, without fear of blowing the league and so on. But we've got to get through this one first. So I hope we go all out for it.
