Surprised Palmer wasn't up there in the top 3 given he has single handedly kept Chelsea in the top half and perhaps sneaking a European place. Jeeze, do England have some serious midfield/attacking midfielder/forward area...why oh why do we have a turgid boring manager "managing" them? A good attack minded manager would have us playing cracking attacking football.
-Been consistently scoring/assisting all season. Never in patches. -10 goals/assists against the Top 6. - Contributed to almost 60% of our goals in the league this season. Just madness really.
Thought early on it was a load of hype and just a purple patch for him, well and trully proved me wrong. Been up there with Foden imo...even though Fodens had a superb season. As good a Rodri is, Palmer has had a far better season, especially when you consider its his first proper season. Few times I've seen Rodri this season and he hasn't looked as good as he has recent season. Rice you cant argue with, he's taken Arsenal to another level.
This may surprise you but for me, it’s arguable he’s not even top 3 at Arsenal let alone the whole league.
Saka too. Maybe it’s because people just expect it from him now but he’s had his best ever season for goals and assists. Pretty much identical numbers to Foden and he’s not even spoken about in this conversation. Rice has been solid and very dependable. But he and maybe us with him have played it safe this season, maybe because Partey has been out for the majority of the season. I suspect next year when we (hopefully) replace Partey with someone more dependable regarding injuries, we might see the real unshackled Declan Rice.
Strange how we see things differently, whenever Ive seen Arsenal this season, Saka hasn't looked as good as he has last season...but as I said, you see far more than me. Odegaard has shone when Ive seen you (good with his hands too ) but I just thought Rice had been the one that stepped you up a level. Maybe its just a case of the squad being one year older and knowing each other better?
I’d agree on Saka, the numbers have been there but I thought he made more of an impact last year. Obvs don’t watch as much as the gooners do, just my opinion from what I’ve seen. Would have Rice Odegaard and White above him. Palmer has been great but equally I think Rodri has been better. So many great players in the league atm. Palmer deserves lots of plaudits though, maybe the YPOTY nod?
Palmer has undoubtedly been good, and I don't want to be that guy, but 9 of his goals have been penalties. Take those away and would he be in the conversation? I'm not convinced that's the case.
Could be a great player, talent always there and Pep did say he could stay, Pep said no to any loan deal. He's backed himself and fair play to him, got to do it again next year when pressure ramps up.
Would still have what 11 goals - and a lot of key ones. I think he’d still be in the conversation but either way he’s not in the top 3 for me. Top 10 for sure, probably top 5, but not top 3.
He's dragged a midtable side up to the fringes of a European place. If said side wasn't Chelsea and was e.g. Brighton then he'd be nowhere near the conversation. Ollie Watkins is more deserving of a Top 3 place than Palmer.
