They will probably get a draw in the end. Presume if there is a decision that goes Villa’s way the Olympiakos owner wlll be straight onto Twitter complaining ?
I don't think going to Greece would be an easy away game at the best of times but the final of this competition is in Athens. A two goal defeat is going to be tough to overturn.
That's a big miss. A one goal defeat is still a bad result but Villa would go to Greece with some hope.
Going to be very hard for villa to overturn that one. Olympiacos massive favourites now based on villas last away performance at lille.
Been some really poor showing by English clubs this season in Europe. Mad we haven't had at least one side shining given the teams that qualified.
It'd be such a breath of fresh air for a European winner that is not from the big four leagues. Even better for Olympiakos with the chance to win it in Athens.
Exactly. It would be nice for a team like fiorentina who lost it last year as well though. I'm torn between the 2
It's a weird one because the two previous winners (Roma & West Ham) were both success stories in their own right but it's sad how dominant the four big leagues have been. It's be wonderful for either Fiorentina or Villa to win a trophy but Olympiakos would be a proper underdog story and they're a big European name themselves. On the plus side it might become more frequent with the new format and no clubs from a better European competition dropping in after the groups.
Didn't know that was the new format. Not sure it would be better. I mean they will have a better chance to win a trophy but it would mean more having a few top teams in it and maybe beating them along the way. Then again there will be a few good teams starting in the groups anyway
Considering the budget, the quality of the team, the pedigree of the manager and where they sit in the Premier League, getting dumped out 6-2 at the semi final stage of THIS competition is barely acceptable from Aston Villa.
