And I'm a massive fan of The God Machine, a short lived band (1991-1993) that split up after the bassist tragically died of a brain tumour. They had only put out one album and a few ep's before his death but thankfully the second album was already recorded and was released a year later. They were signed to Fiction records and I think Robert Smith had something to do with it as he was a big fan of the band at the time. But yeah I agree, the cover's good but the original's better. That's not Kurt Cobain.
I never even listened to it prior to posting ,but your absolutely correct ,apparently its a band called Seether. In my haste to post I was duped. I will listen to the song before posting next time.
I think the greatest cover, or most popular, would be Sinead’s version of the little fellas hit wouldnt it? Anyways, here’s the worst; unforgivable really.
Ocean Breathes Salty Modest Mouse The superior cover - Sun Kil Moon The original - Dramamine - Modest Mouse The superior cover - Sun Kil Moon
The Original Never Ending Math Equation Modest Mouse The superior cover The Original Space Travel is Boring Modest Mouse Again, the vastly superior cover Need I go on?
I like Modest Mouse, their track, Missed The Boat, is one of my most played tracks, like, ever. George's original And Willy's take:
I like Marianne Faithfull's version a lot. Reminds me of a Pink Floyd song off The Wall. Which is funny because they were released the exact same month it turns out.
Bad Romance is a great song and I like the original but was always likely to favour a rock cover and I think Halestorm's version is briliant. Bad Romance - Lady Gaga Bad Romance - Halestorm This next one I think I like both versions about the same but it's always great to have 2 or more versions of a song that are very strong and appeal to different people. Losing My Religion - R.E.M Losing My Religion - Lacuna Coil
I'm not sure who was the actual first but this was my introduction to the song. I'm gussing this was the inspiration. Found this recently - to prompt the post. and another great version from Groundhog Tony McPhee. and Jimmie Rodgers (1932) Is it the same song? I think not - just inspired by...
