That was a great result of the Angels! Unfortunately, whether you go up or not, still means I have to visit Legoland again next season*. *Providing the Angels can stay up and Torquay don't go into free-fall
It's bizarre because back in early November everyone wanted the manager sacked then suddenly everything clicked, since then we've only lost once in 17 league games, and we're actually playing great football. As soon as Elokobi (all he did was punt it long) got injured, and we shipped out Pavey to Dover we suddenly started playing the ball on the floor. Nice change from the constant hoof ball we played for years upon years.
Worthing now 13 clear at the top of the Isthmian League, so hopefully we’ll be seeing you all next season.
I'd say it'd be great to see Worthing, but I'm increasingly losing confidence that we'll be staying up
Maidstone faltering in the last couple of away games, Dorking winning despite being down to ten men, and the rest of the chasing pack with some catching up to do. https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/national-league-south
Not really, one of them was definitely off-side and another was a free kick from 2 yards out... so, not really that impressive.
At one stage it looked like an Essex fight-to-the-death with Billericay and Braintree struggling to find a win. Then Braintree go on a run to move up the table and 'Ricay suddenly realise that they're in big danger of falling through the trap door and start scoring for fun. Any one of the bottom seven could still find themselves in 21st spot come the end of the season but it looks like Welling are now favourites for the drop.... which will mean not having to go to the scenic Park View Road next season.... every cloud n' all that. That said, Chelmsford have been on a horrendous run, losing their last 6. At the top, the lovely Maidstone now have a 2 point advantage over Dorking who dropped two vital points at home to mid-table Hampton on Saturday. The play-off spots look all but filled apart from 7th. So, Maidstone out one way, Welling out the other is my reckoning. Long way to go yet though, and I'm really crap at this prediction malarky.
Chelmsford struggling so much is the big shock, they're normally someone I expect to be challenging around the play offs.
They are such a strange club, they have the potential to be a comfortable National Premier side but they can never seem to make anything click. I've not seen Billericay or Bath this season but I've seen the others down there and by quite a distance Welling have been the worst, but right now it's more about momentum and Chelmsford are in all sorts of trouble, in fact I'd say they are favourites to get relegated. Good to see Maidstone pull clear at the top, hope Dorking can choke in the playoffs. Be nice to have Dartford or Ebbsfleet up if only for the fact the Kent clubs will bring more than 25 people to Roots Hall.
I know Chelmsford have been trying to get out of the Conference South for years, but this is an extreme way of doing so
Lots of transfer activity at Welling United. Will it be enough? TRANSFERS | Comings and goings at Park View Road - Welling United FC
In all honesty, we should've gotten something against St. Albans and against Slough their keeper saved them from losing and losing by 4/5-1. That said we're pretty inconsistent and so our big win against Hemel could then see us lose that momentum with us getting hammered by Eastbourne. What is making our lives easier though is that as you said Welling has been diabolical and I think they're going down with Billericay's recent run of good form.
Billericay off the bottom with a very good point away at 10th placed H + W....Chelmsford make it 7 defeats on the bounce, third bottom and making a big bid to fall through the trap door.
Great game for the neutral at Vauxall Road in a game that had it all.... delayed kick-off, 7 goals, missed penalty, deep-in-to-injury-time winner, 2 sent off. Angels failed to hang at the death after coming from behind on three occasions, as Hemel scored a 95th minute winner to make it 4-3. This makes Saturday's game at home to Welling a 'must win 6 pointer' if ever there was one.
Another Jack Barham hat-trick and a goal from Joan Luque keeps us 4 points clear I don't know what's gone wrong with Havant this season because that was the worst Paul Doswell managed team I've ever seen us face, they were shocking. I was expecting this to be a tough game, but it was effectively over within the first 10 minutes.
See you all next season Fair f*cking play to GD, what a legacy he’s building down here. It takes a certain type of person to take such a negative and build these positives out of it.
