I thought we were the better side throughout. Nullified a lot of Halifax's forward play and certainly kept them busy at the back. Good start with the penalty to settle any nerves and the second took the pressure off a touch. Should have had more than the three really but the three points was the important thing. Cracking goal by Halifax to be fair.
Max Cleworth is going to be a star player for us, he reads the game brilliantly and is a clean tackler. Normally having a 19 year old centre back playing in this league would fill you with dread.
Same here. We were comfortable without ever really hitting top gear. I dont think Halifax had a shot on goal until the hour mark?
Couple of premier league and a few championship scouts looking at him last night, Stoke being one. Hopefully be able to keep him, don't need the money
I had a blast, thanks. I'm not one of those idiots who thinks losing is a portent of the Apocalypse, I'd all but forgotten about it by the time i got home. 3 points on Saturday and we're up and running again.
Bollocks, how many shots did you have in the first half? I'll tell you- 2! And one of those was the penalty. Our team got a great reception from our fans as they came off at half time, we were within a whisker of .converting a couple of chances in front of the Wrexham end.
Yeah its ridiculous. Quigley hasn't scored yet but lets have it right - none of that front line other than Asante offer a goal threat. Mandeville... he is working harder but **** me his output is dreadful - both goals and assists wise.
I must admit I watched the game as a neutral and I thought Wrexham were pretty much in control from the off.
We are going to have to agree to disagree. You had a couple of shots Dibble spilled in the second half and scored a great goal but other than that I can't remember any clear cut chances you had. Not that we had loads of chances (other than set pieces) but we took all ours. Your lot looked tired imo. Not half as sharp as I've seen you before.
Mandeville should, he's got the ability hasn't he. He should be getting 10 a season from midfield with his shot, ability to beat a man and find space. It just doesn't... happen? I'd put Khan in that too.
You are looking through 'Away end' eyes with that, and I don't blame you....Did you manage to get a few beers in or just down for the match and then straight back? I didn't manage to test out of Covid so I had to settle for BT. This is what we have been since January, we control the game without looking dominant but having Tozer, Hayden and Mcfadzean in particular with Young ahead of them is very difficult to get at, and any team will do well to keep out Mullin, Palmer and Davies for 90 mins.
I've said before that it is really important that with all the money we are putting into the club that it is 'Initial investment' and we don't create a revolving door policy, it would be amazing if we could have a couple of local players playing important roles, JD is the obvious one but Cleworth has been a revelation. It leans towards what the whole philosophy of the long term plan is, build the infrastructure to bring these players through and in a few years we won't need to put as much money as we have into the transfer market.
I can't speak for Weymouth (who were awful at the Walks) but can't see us getting three wins from our last 10, even though one of them is Dover. We have been marginally better under Widdrington but still fully deserve to be in the relegation zone even after our win at your place at the weekend.
You all said this a couple of weeks ago then pulled a brilliant second half from somewhere! We’re a different beast at home though tbf.
I think we are cooked as well, probably the first time i've thought that. Really needed to turn up last night and get a result and we were awful, albeit lost to complete fluke of a goal. We may well still make the play offs but as soon as we come up against anyone with any quality we will get beaten anyway. Desperately missing Clarke, Oyeleke, Carline, Croll and Tshimanga - of which maybe only Oyeleke will return in the next few weeks.
Nope, was horrendous. Good away day though and had a good time chatting and singing in the away end, shame about Southend United! Even in the cold light of morning that still goes down as the worst performance I've seen by Southend this season. If you've seen worse from Maidenhead then I applaud you for turning up again.
I didn’t go last night as no public transport back to London following the game, but I agree. I watched the Wrexham vs Halifax game and I saw enough of both sides to convince me that we’d lose to them in the play offs. Genuinely feels like the season is just going to fizzle out. Striker and midfielder have been required for weeks now and nothing has come through the door. Really disappointed.
Good to see Luke Garrards manager of the month for February REALLY cursed him I March. 2 points out of 5 games, as well as being dumped out of the cup.
