Need to get rid of Moyes, have so for months, but the board is lackadaisical at best, so you're correct.
It was only a matter of time before Sullivan dragged West Ham down to his level of thinking, business wise.. The board don't want to spend the money. Sullivan's a tight arse that has milked every club he's owned..
We may be 13th, but we're only 5 pts off the bottom three. Any sort of really bad run will drag us right in there. I just think with the fight we show every game, we'll pick up another win or two, and a number of draws, that will see us over the line. West Ham away then Everton at home for us. 4 pts from that and we are well on our way to staying up.
West Ham have spent a fair bit of money to add to what was already a good group of players and they've done so without losing some of their star players like Bowen and Rice. Don't think Moyes can grumble too much about not being backed, they've just been rubbish all season. Have to say they looked particularly poor. One of the worst teams we've come up against this season and that's including a Forest team that have drastically improved since we played them in August. I think the quality West Ham have in their squad will just about drag them out of it but they shouldn't really be where they are to begin with. Palace - good gap to the bottom and should have enough quality to stay up. Forest - reaping the rewards for backing Cooper. They'll be fine I think. Leicester - too much quality to go down imo. Wolves - improved a fair bit since the change of manager. Everton - Dyche will make them solid enough to survive. Already put a couple of wins together. Bournemouth West Ham - as above Leeds Southampton Bournemouth, Leeds and Southampton going down I think. I know football is rarely that simplistic but Bournemouth, Leeds and Southampton don't have the greatest squads anyway and two are without proper managers. Some Southampton fans might argue likewise.
Not entirely true, they've been inconsistent but they spend big every couple of seasons. Gold was a boyhood supporter of the club, and Sullivan says he's a fan too, so I suppose that might explain their different attitude at Birmingham opposed to West Ham. And this season was one of those big-spending seasons and why Moyes should've been given his marching orders during the World Cup break. Moyes has effectively failed to utilize our quality new signings and has thus effectively squandered our big money spending. Even if we do stay up, I don't see the board spending big again, I agree with you on that.
Our net spend last summer was over 100m. Our current predicament has nothing to do with lack of funds or Sullivan, even though many at ours are trying to spin it that way. As tshabs said, we need to replace Moyes unfortunately.
Leeds have more than enough quality to stay up reasonably comfortably but, to the eternal discredit of our owners if we do go down, we're looking like a team devoid of ideas and have a keeper who's too gaff-prone. I'm more concerned now than I was towards rhe end of last season. The inability to get a top-notch manager to stop the dyke flooding speaks volumes.
Does feel like Leeds and Southampton are likely gone, crazy to be without a manager at this stage. Probably 3 out of 5 from them, Bournemouth, West Ham and Everton, but I reckon Dyche keeps them up.
I dunno it could have been a one off and Chelsea being pants, but I quite like the look of Southampton's caretaker manager, he comes across well and is passionate.
The 5 shortest odds with the bookies are below, which suggests they think Bournemouth & Southampton are down with anyone to go with them. Hopefully it'll be Leeds. Bournemouth, Everton & Southampton 5/1 Bournemouth, Leeds & Southampton 5/1 Bournemouth, Forest & Southampton 9/1 Bournemouth, Southampton & Wolves 14/1
Absolutely criminal if West Ham goes down there's enough quality in that squad that they should be upper mid table comfortably
They have a couple of quality players in Soucek, Paqueta and Rice but the rest of their talent is ageing or injured.
Pah! What do they know Fair really, I think most of us think it will be a surprise if we do stay up. We defended well at Wolves, but not much pattern in the play still as yet - I think that's our main concern with O'Neil. Oh well, time for another exciting Championship campaign. Better this time though with the new owners and the plans for the new ground/training ground etc..
You’ll stay up but it won’t be pretty. I’d tip us to go down over yous. We can’t score either, but we’re leaking them at the other end as well
