Brilliant if slightly obvious reveal. Spoiler Absolutely loved the way Halbrand trolls Galadriel throughout before actually revealing himself lol. Also looks like one did actually just walk into Mordor!
I think it’s been really good throughout. Can’t wait for the next season, that’s probably at least a year and a half away though
Spoiler I don’t think it was that obvious. I guessed that the stranger was likely to be Gandalf pretty early (assuming that he is), but didn’t see hallbrand as sauron. I assumed he’d be one of the nazgul
Spoiler I should’ve been more clearer but I meant more in the terms of this episode. As soon as Halbrand took an interest in the workshop they went heavy on it I felt. But yeah throughout the series I can see the ambiguity between Halbrand and the stranger. Definitely felt it was a really well done episode.
**** that was the season finale? Spoiler Got to hand it to the writers. Ballsy approach to replace Tolkien’s Annatar with a completely new character. It worked well.
Really interesting seeing the comments on this here, which seem generally favourable to the show, when its been pilloried left, right and centre online.
I thought the reveals were pretty well done despite being a bit predictable. Looking forward to season 2.
it was always going to be simply because it’s an adaption from Tolkien’s world/lore. It seems most fans of these books want to see identical adaptions, and only watch these shows so they can get upset about it on social media.
Kinda partially watched this. Not been able to maintain my interest and its one of the few shows ill skip episodes to out of apathy. Its nice visually, thats about what I've got to say Not awful like some online are pushing. But it does feel just incredibly hollow and kinda "meh" as far as storytelling goes. The attempts to mimic Tolkien's ability to draw strong emotion and a lesson from poignant notes have been almost embarrassingly bad at points (the rock and boat scene... actually kinda hurt to listen to ) It has some reddeming moments and on its own its probably worth a watch for a fantasy fix. But really feel like its such a let down from what it could have been.
Good season end, I still think it's been better than House of the dragons, production values a cut above, and at least more than a little action....but I still find both worthwhile.
Spoiler Liked the attention to detail they did for the big "Gandalf" reveal. A moth symbol when conveying his spell to defeat the servants of Sauron, and the follow your nose line.
You're probably right but they haven't actually confirmed it yet so I'm not 100% sold. Once they use one of his canon names then we're talking.
watched it all finally, and overall a very good show, though slow to begin with. They were good to leave the Sauron ambiguity until the last episode or two, and as soon as they started making the rings you knew where it was going. the song at the end mentioned the rest of the rings, but they only made 3 in the show, so i guess they will gloss over this, while Sauron probably spends the entire season 2 making the one ring in true Tolkein lore, there are 5 Astari, and you only see three in the movies. Saruman and Gandalf were the first I believe so it could go either way, but the link with hobbit types and a few telling links suggests its the latter
Pretty sure the blue wizards came first, long before the others. And they basically just ****ed off to the east never to be seen again (and this guy is heading east...). It also would work because the blue wizards were never named in Tolkien's books or accompanying notes, and this character is still just called the stranger. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
