It's good to see that Jonas Gutierrez has penned a new 4 year deal.

He's not been exactly in the best of form that we know he can do in the last few games, but hey, let's take this news as a indication of the loyalty and team spirit in the squad.

Now Jonas can set up a winning goal at the weekend as a thank you and celebration for being an important part of our side eh? :thumb

He does okay, he never gives up trying and he obviously loves playing for Newcastle but his end product is often lacking for me.

I believe he could do better if he put his mind to it.

Hardly ever injured, great attitude on the pitch, performs well in the important games and is one of the better ball carriers we've had in the last few years. Very happy with this, I thought he'd have been long gone by now to be honest.

Can't help but think he has signed a new contract so we can get a bigger transfer fee for him in January/Summer.

    Hopefully I am wrong though.

Great news indeed, for all of the points already mentioned. Hardly ever injured, relentless trier who never stops running and is quite obviously settled and enjoying his time in the area.

He's got some decent competition in Marveux now but when he's had competition in the past, he's upped his game a bit. Versatile enough to play in a number of positions if injuries kick in and Coloccini's best mate, who is more likely to sign a new contract in light of this.

Of course this is true but then again, if he had a decent end product, then he wouldn't be playing for us, he'd be playing for someone much better

I don't think there's a Newcastle supporter out there who hasn't considered this may be the case, such are the times we live in. That said, it's difficult to wipe the smile off my face at the minute. It's been a cracking start to the season and if we can have a bit of luck with injuries, then there's no reason to think we can't have a good season. Could get very interesting if Ben Arfa is even half the player the French think he can be.

I always like it when players prove me wrong, long may it continue.
