Would be dissapointing, as I was hoping they could sign Kieran Charnock permanently. :(

Nah, seriously good luck to them, hope they don't.

£300k is a massive bill for a club Accringtons size. Their only way out of it would be to seriously reduce their wage budget over the summer.

Already been told of a 25% pay cut , thats why alot of players maybe are not going to sign and Mullin wouldnt take the wage we offered so is on the contract list

Eric Whalley either needs now to sort this asap! And i think the best thing is for him to get on to the revenue asap and sort out a payment plan! I remember Rochdale having something like this a few years ago and they sorted it out via a payment plan with the revenue! However if Eric "did one" this could all go wrong.

The thing is, Stanley have always told us we wasnt in debt even though the fans thought they must of with the attendances etc but its looks like are worse fear has appeared!

Another good thing is we have a board member of accrington stanley who is a very big fan called Illyas Khan who has offered stanley £200,000 intrest free etc months ago but the club havent even contacted him or anything (Club i mean Eric Whalley). Maybe this is the time they should accept the offer and pay quite a bit of the money we owe!

Im also scared that because of this then how can we attract players to the club and especially the players and management we have now , if we dont get payed they might want to bugger of because football in league 2 is their job and without money coming in they cant put food on the table!

A guy who posted on our forum has the same opinion i have:

    " Gutted but not suprised.

As for the excuses given on the fishy site..............ridiculous, HM Revenue & Customs will tear the club apart if they rely on that load of tosh! Eric, you bloody fool, you cannot in all seriousness expect us to believe this has all happened overnight...........You MUST of had warning that this was going to happen, and you have had the offer of clearing 2 thirds of this debt sitting on your desk,UNASWERED, for the past 2 months at least! They say pride comes before a fall..........well in my eyes now is the time to swallow your bloody pride man and get Ilyas on board without anymore dicking about.

    Yes Im bloody angry! "

I dont know if to laugh or cry! So il cry :cry:

Grimsby have also been in this position when the sky digital went bust, they where given around 7 years to pay off 700k, the inland revenue will want the club to carry on trading as this is their best chance of them getting their cash!

Exactly, you'll be fine as long as you do not default on any payments that the winding up court will order you to make, say 10k a month for 30 months or something.

But HMRC have gone mental the last year and if you slip the slightest bit you'll be toast.

I remember something like this for us few seasons back as you say. Cant remember exactly what went on but it was blown well out of proportion with people saying we would be next for admin, not heard out since and i wouldnt say were in financial dificulty so...

Hope Accy pull throught but it is difficult to run a league club on them crowds.

Sad state of affairs. It's a shame that the people of Accrington don't do more to support their local team after all the hard work to get back in the league. Their attendances are really poor. I bet they are glad that neither Bury nor Dale went up, as it's only our crowds that keep them going!

I hope that Accy survive, as they turned out to help us when we were in the doo-doo.

This is what one our shareholders said on our forum , superb guy and fan (ilyas khan) :

What an unmitigated disaster. I am embarrassed and sick to the pit of my stomach after reading the statement. Bagpuss, you are absolutely correct in your surmise (about Mr W concocting a story about there being interested "parties" for his shares only in trying to generate money into his pocket. How sickening). That sham, and more has now come to light, as has the fact that the club has been negligent (putting it mildly) with its obligations. I am also really quite shocked at the tone of the statement. Someone somewhere has to wake up and smell the coffee. Sorry guys, but I just dont know how to react other than to share the deep regret of all true fans.

One thing, however, is for sure. This club will not go down. Not whilst we are around. The club is bigger than any one individual, and its time for the board to act in the interests of the club, and not the interests of a Chairman who has been found out like the emperor with no clothes on. How on earth can we owe the taxman £300,000 and be taken to court. What other debts are there ? Lets have a full disclosure and lets then get people to subscribe to a new share issue and save the situation. I am ready to lead the way with at least £250,000. And you can quote me on that.

A very sad and sorry Ilyas Khan

We were about 10 mins from administration a few seasons back but Fenty was having none of it and managed to sort out a payment scheme with them (although we didnt know we were that close to admin until Fenty told us a few months back). We are still paying it back, but we've nearly paid it all off now.

As long as you agree to a structured payment scheme and pay the money back (however little) each month/year, you will be fine :)

Ironic that the debt that could see AS into administration is probabaly the daily wage bill for Man U or Liverpool.

I hope you get this sorted.

Couldn't you get an MP to move in and put a claim in?

Seriously though I hope it gets sorted. Hate to miss our trip to the darkside of the Pennines next season.

    Good Luck!!

Be a real shame to see Accy go tits up. Hope they come through, and retain their league status.
