Truly shocking, even in his short time on the pitch yesterday he did his best impression of 2014 final Gonzalo Higuain.

That last minute header summed up his world cup

Like he didn’t want to let go.

I reckon someone like Ronaldo would have refused to put the cloak on !

Not sure butI think players choose themselves. He's not the worst. Cr7 did it 2 times in a row in a big tournament

I disrespected that cloak on a barca forum and got mauled by an Arab guy saying its a culture thing and shows generosity. I still think they couldve given it after the trophy presentation for pictures. It ruined it because messi lifting that trophy in an Argentina shirt just like Maradona would have looked much better and iconic

I'm not so exercised by that whole cloak thing.

It's a WC in their country and they apparently give this item as a symbol of honour. I don't think people would be complaining if it was the symbol of another country. It's not the item of clothing that's the problem, more the fact that it reminds everyone who looks at the pictures that the WC was in Qatar and all the problems associated with that.

Messi would've been the greatest of all time if he hadn't put it on.

    I'd put him third now.

Enzo Fernandez coming into the XI as well after his performance v Mexico, that midfield with Alvarez up helped give so much more balance. Scaloni's willingness to change served them perfectly.

Was a great game to watch. Turned it off as soon as the last pen was taken.

This childish elation from grown men over a player that plays neither for their country or club is quite a sad sight to see.

It was more the aesthetics for me. It just looked shit.

I don't remember us making Leonardo Bonucci wear a flat cap and a trench coat when he lifted the trophy last year.

They should be allowed to display their teams' colours in full. It's their victory, not Qatar's.

It's not that really. If the world cup was in Scotland they wouldn't force a kilt on him and make it about themselves. They were lucky to get the world cup and those celebrations should be all about Argentina and that iconic Jersey not being covered

He's right though. It reminds of kids who argue about xbox vs playstation.

    Awaits obvious reply.

If Messi read this I'm sure he regrets now that he put it on :D

I switched off when I saw that Infantino guy standing there.

:eyemouth: copyright violation. Or did you ask Pagnell for permission to use "his" slogan? ;)

I don't think penalties should count in the golden boot, plus the first one was as soft as fk. But Geoff did get a hat trick yes. And I'll make a point of mentioning it every world cup:)
