Rohit batted in the middle order in the practice game. Sign of things to come? He would have backed himself in the past & refused to change his position. (I know he started as a middle order batsman in Tests). But currently bro is out of form & willing to adjust.
Yeah, that's pretty much what the Indian commentary were saying at the end of the Perth test. When fit there are three batsmen ahead of him now, no.6 may be what little future he has left.
I have written about Vinod Kambli here before, but it still feels bad seeing what's become of him. As a kid, he was rated higher than Sachin, both of whom were & remain good friends. Sachin has often gone out of his way to help him, despite Kambli once bizarrely blaming Sachin for his downfall. Now he looks way older, has been abandoned by his wife (he used to beat her), family, has some ailment and is coming out of alcoholism, while surviving only on BCCI's pension. Some people really can't handle fame.
That is a shame . Just shows how life can be very different between 2 young players who have the same hype . See it a lot in sport . England unchanged .
The 2nd test between New Zealand and England started 37 eventful minutes ago where Zak Crawley hit the sixth ball of the first over for six! Duckett at the other end was less successful trying to attack and was back in the pavilion before a run was put against his name. Crawley has now gone to give Henry his second wicket and the Kiwis seem more pleased that they won the toss and decided to field. Jake and Joe now try to repair the damage from 21-2. Australia v India starts later at the Adelaide Oval where swing will be a thing as the day turns to night.
Wild from England, sometimes too wild and brash. Joe's poor run of form continues getting out chasing a wide 'un and Jake getting in a tangle with a short ball when an experienced batsman, or one that isn't trying to hit every ball, would have left alone. Nearly four an over, or, a wicket every three. 47-4 after twelve. Messy.
Recovered somewhat to 124/4 at lunch but you can't see much beyond 250ish the way it's going, but that's the nature of this England team . . .
Harry Brook, the thorn in the fern. 51 not out at the break, averaging about three million in middle earth.
Another day in Wellington, another ton for Hazza. Just the 5.40 runs per over for England and a strike rate of 112. for Brook. The papal visit is over and now we have Ben to keep Harry company for a while..
Harry Brook What a guy, 103 average with 102 strike rate in NZ is a crazy record so far. Looks like we bowled well, lets hope we don't let them off the hook tomorrow.
Aussies, after a good spell of bowling, showed a fantastic display of defensive batting. Eventhough Khawaja eventually got out & McSweeney was dropped, overall alongwith Marnus they were fantastic in choosing which balls to leave & which to get behind. The pitch is actually more bowler friendly than Perth's, but Aussies just batter better. On a side note, nice to see my favourite Brook delivering again.
