I don't think of those top sides have played each other yet so not had chance to drop points if that makes sense
I should hope we're well placed to feature in this and wouldn't discount the title race featuring someone else too, possibly Woking or Hartlepool based on what I've seen so far. We haven't played any of the other teams mentioned yet but on the flipside we've done well against a number of 'potential banana skins' where we were expected to be given a rude introduction to non league football.
I think our target was always 6th or 7th. Our start was horrific and unlike many others we've still got budget left and are looking to recruit more If we're top ten by xmas we've got a good chance, however I'm sure a dozen teams will be chasing 6th and 7th
Too early to say. Early Oct should give a clearer picture I think. All of the supposed challengers will have played at least one against each other. We have Southend at home, Carlisle away and FGR away in the space of a couple of weeks. If we come out of those unbeaten, while keeping up existing form Vs everyone else It'll bode well. I thought we'd finish top 3. We look good for that so far. Title will require us to go on some long winning runs which we always seem to just fall short of. And avoid silly defeats a la Brackley, for a good while again now. We shall see.
Agree with you on this - I think its an outside chance for us to make play offs but still really hard to tell. We were so bad in the first four games but the next four we have looked much better and were absolutely electric vs Gateshead (I'd be worried they might go down after watching that) As you say, there will be a big group of teams chasing those last couple of spots. Just need to stay in the mix. My early money would be on Rochdale to win the league.
Also am I missing something with the Woking fans talking their team up? I won't be watching them other than our two fixtures but wins v Morecambe and Gateshead dont seem much of a scalp.
Now we are up, and same league rivalry isn't there, I'm routing for dale to take the title. Nothing like having a proper Derby to spice a league campaign up. Im not actually arsed about said rivalry, it's pretty much none existant personally, and I live in rochdale, but it makes for a much better atmosphere, and a little bit of friendly banter amongst friends
By the end of Sept we'll have played York, Pools, Dale and Scunny and B. Wood, who are making a good start. three home and two away. It'll be interesting to see how we get on now with Husin out for the foreseeable and whether we will bring a loan in or try and make do with Miley or Morton, both of whom bring a benefit to the team, but aren't as complete as Husin has become in that holding Mid role.
I don’t think we’re good enough to challenge for the title. I think we’re at the stage as a team where we’ll score goals and beat a lot of the lower half teams, so that should secure us in mid table no problem at all come end of season, but in my opinion our frailties will be exposed by the better teams. The next few weeks should highlight this. Altrincham (A) York (A) Rochdale (H) Hartlepool (H) Scunthorpe (A) Forest Green (H) If after this run of games we’re still in the race I’d be pleasantly shocked. I fully expect us to lose most of the above games.
Ohh trust me. After our final and meeting quite a few of your lot im routing for you as well. You can take the play off final
I'd rather take the title than go through that again. Mind you at least TFL should have all three train stations open this year!
I'm astounded and delighted at how well our start to the season has gone, and particularly admire the fluidity and flexibility the team (and management) are demonstrating. And actually playing football that is enjoyable to watch, which has been notably absent the last three seasons. I'm still concerned that the very fast-paced style of play that we've adopted is going to lead to loads of injuries, though, contributing to the traditional mid-season slump. We'll see though. Rochdale, Southend and Scunny will probably all be up there, maybe York too.
