Season over, let's ruin everybody else's! We play Halifax (5th), Gainsborough (6th), Hyde (1st) and Guiseley (2nd) in our last 4 games! Position are before Nuneaton's points deduction, however...
Someone in the BSP play off contention places is going to drop big points today. For a start both Grimsby and Heed cant win Great day to be a Woking fan
That was much better. I know we have to take the league position of the opposition in to account, but the whole demeanour and attitude of the players was better than it has been for weeks. The crowd responded too, been a while since the team have had that level of backing. Scored four very good goals too. We do need to tighten up at the back though. Conceded two from set-pieces today, I understand they weren't too disimilar to a couple that Braintree scored too. Something to work on during the week. Goals: Much sterner tests to come over the remaining weeks of the season, but a bit of encouragement at least. It seems this week then that the play-off chasers all actually wanted a play-off spot. Those late late (late late late....) goals for Kidderminster and Southport could be crucial!
Fleetwood 1-1 Wrexham The party isn't starting just yet for Fleetwood. A win on Friday night at home to Lincoln and they're there.
It would be a massive disappointment to not go up after being picked preseason favorites. The playoffs are a lottery, however.
To me, Wrexham deserve to go up. They've allowed 27 goals all season. That is staggering. Good news for whoever joins Fleetwood is that since the Conference started sending up 2 teams, no team has returned to the Conference. The only team not around is Chester City, but we all know what happened there.
The other good thing for those of us who are likely to still be in this league come August is that it should at least be a more level playing field without Fleetwood.
Really? Wrexham are miles clear of the pack too. I'm sure that you're suggesting money though, but I thought I'd point out that Fleetwood haven't spent any more cash really than anyone else near the top?
I agree, they looked a pretty good side today too, easily one of the better teams I've seen at Fleetwood this season. Other than that I'd say York, Grimsby and Darlington (seriously, Darlington) were also very decent sides.
good luck to fleetwood.as for us we got to keep our heads up and be postive in the playoffs any thing can happen.would say that if we dont go up.at least 6 players.would go.
? A comparrison of your overall spending budget this season with that of Kidderminster and Southport would make interesting reading.
Hardly Fleetwood's fault that Kidderminster didn't get their finances in order, nor is it that Southport have no ambition and remain a part-time club despite them now having their best season in years.
You will be shaking those begging buckets one day soon enough my northen fishy freind, mark my words.
You may believe that. I doubt any other fan of any other club in this league does, however. I seem to recall Rob Atkinson wanted to play League football until Fleetwood came sniffing around last summer. You may not have paid out the fees that Crawley did, but I don't think there is any doubt whatsoever that the biggest bank balance in the league is winning it. It might be slightly less nauseating if there was even a modicum of dignity and class in the club. I have seen none.
