Don’t rule out UEFA trying to adopt the same system they’ve put into their cup competitions

Although we can't blame that entirely on lower-ranked teams.

They have made the competition worse, by it being so diluted.

Qualifying for it now is easy for the more fancied nations. Which means qualifying doesn't have much jeopardy, which adds to the feeling of nothingness watching the games.

Then you get to the tournament, and you have be pretty bad to not qualify with so many 3rd places. So whilst the top nations haven't all topped the group, you don't have the danger that they won't go through, making the games feel something like a friendly at times.

Yup - it's one of 4 bets I have on with a total bet investment of £7 (thats all 4 added together - yeah I'm a big spender) if any one of them comes off I get my £7 back plus extra so it's all good :)

They could just get rid of the qualifiers and use the nations league instead. Everyone from leagues A and B get to qualify, 32 teams sorted and no pointless games against random tiny countries.

Could use it for the world cup as well - 16 European teams is all the league A teams plus the winners of the B league groups

They want more games though. More tv, sponsorship etc.

Yeah that’s a decent idea. As long as the national teams didn’t decide they then needed to start doing pointless friendlies again to prepare/fill the gaps. In which case it’d be back to square one. As above, they want more games and more money in all likelihood. Perhaps not so much the bigger nations but certainly the smaller ones.

What? Again an english ref for our match? 2 times in a row? :eeek (and in the final the 3rd time? ;) )

Let's hope he doesn't get a free luxury holiday at Ibiza/Mallorca/Tenerife from the Spaniards

The one thing we do produce is decent officials to be fair, at least compared to most other countries

If that's true then it is very harsh, imo. Yes, it's also a political gesture (called "Wolfsgruß") but tbh a money fine would have been enough imo. So this has a bad taste.

And what is with Bellingham's gesture? Not political, only a bit obscene, though, but he gets only a money fine.

UEFA banned all political gestures before the tournament, he must have known that so it's his fault. Bellingham, as you say, was not political, so I think a fine is reasonable.

If Spain get past France, which I think they will tbh, even if France try to shithouse their way through the game, I think Spain have enough in there locker to beat them, they'll win the tournament. Holland/Turkey/England/Swiss I don't think will be good enough to match Spain, Holland maybe, and if England get past Switzerland, won't be able to withstand the press and quality from Spain.

Apart from the Euros affected by COVID, this has been the dullest. Aside from a couple of good matches, it's been dull France reaching the semi-finals without scoring in open play pretty much sums it up.
