This makes it the oldest forum I’ve ever joined then, amazing to think it was all those years ago, I was only 3!!!
Me, me, me. After working around the world for a number of years, I have finally returned to FF. 24 years after joining!
Great White was a friend of mine. We sadly lost Baz about 8 years ago I think. I seem to remember he had another friend on here - Gail (ECFC Girl) I think. Time flies uh?
I think so Taffy. So much water has gone under the bridge in my life since, I don't rightly remember. Maybe a little less. Say 6 years. I'll see if I can find out. Anyway. Twas never dull moment when GW was on song on here!.
It was 2017. Sadly, towards his end, he went off the rails a bit with drink etc. He upset quite a few on here apparently! I don't know the details. Perhaps it's best to let sleeping dogs lie.
Yup, Baz lost his battle with cancer and yeah he went out hard pissing off as many people as he could. He will aways be the one who was so outrageous that he made my mum laugh when she was terminally ill so I always had a soft spot for him even when he was being a dick. Gail is still going strong and supporting ECFC (no accounting for taste) she's a grandma now
Not even close number 2315 - there was the whole Sports.com exodus to FF that happened when it was sold and killed where a lot of people joined.
Why on earth didn't I embrace this community when I joined in 2017? Answer - because the other place was vibrant. It no longer is.
I was 'revising' for my GCSEs then . Crazy amount of time ago now. I still think of the internet as a 'new' technology but it really isn't.
It's even more scary when you realised FF has existed for longer than Facebook or Twitter - and for those really old Skool People we also predate My Space
Yeah we pre-date all modern forms of social media. I remember everyone taking on here about MySpace when it first became a 'thing' . Was a totally different world. Can you remember Excite Clubs egroups? Those sorts of things were probably the earliest forms of social media along with chat rooms and chit chat clients like MSN and Yahoo Messenger. Yahooooooooooooo.
MSN messenger was how TAFKAP and I talked at first when we joined here so there will always be a soft spot in my heart for it because we've been married now for nearly 14 years
That's brill that is. After joining the official message board for Birmingham City me and a mate thought we could do it better and started our own, that would have been around 2002. It was a brilliant success and I still keep in touch with a few of the old members, in fact I met a couple at Wembley two weeks ago. Message boards were the bomb back then, a lot of them have fallen by the wayside so it's a credit to the people who run this one that it's still thriving. I'd get rid of the swear filter though, that's annoying as ****..
Yeah I'd agree with that. So few kids read old school forums these days, they're all on social media and phone apps. No need for a swear filter these days. ****s.
