he hasn’t a clue really, just the money and to make the stadium and surrounding areas look good. I think he took us over and had the wool pulled over his eyes by the ex DOF, it’s been an absolute shit show. But, I do think he means well and will spend, just very naive. Hopefully Grant and a whole new back room staff and DOF will change this. We had a massive connection to Beswicks Sports last year, they have now all gone. Stoke fans will tell you what these guys are like! Still can’t believe they sacked Warnock for ****ing Darren Moore!
According to Sky Sports we will be interviewing Jack Wilshere, Tom Cleverley and Des Buckingham. I’d assume there are one or two other names not mentioned in the bookies odds that will also get an interview as we often like to spring a surprise.
Not much experience there but least the latter has got a promotion from League one on his CV, Cleverley I thought did well enough to keep his job but seems the board expected play off which was rather ambitious . He was another classic young manager whose way of playing was the Pep lead keep possession at all costs trying to play out from the back so not sure it was the most exciting football tbh .
Hopefully we give that a swerve, wouldn’t make much sense swinging from Muslic to Cleverley if that’s his style. Unless he’s capable of adapting of course- albeit an alien concept to a lot of coaches nowadays
Seen on Twitter/X about some problems at Burton and a few worrying that their manager about to leave. Not good if so
Not manager but Wayne Jacobs it appears will not be returning certainly in the near future after a long illness which saw him take time away since November, he is making a slow recovery but DM said he won't likely return, also coach Lee Bradbury has left to take the manager's job at Dagenham and Redbridge so should see some incomings. We have also recruited ex Burnley, Stoke and WBA head of recruitment Lee Darnbrough
Sounds like he is recovering but a long road. There was something on his charity page about it - A Personal Health Update from Wayne Jacobs (CEO, Co-founder) Seemed a great guy from the few months with us, in pre season our fans were steaming at losing to Bath City (this was when we didn't realise like that and the Burton game we'd done double and triple training sessions before to knacker us out for them as fitness prep) and in his post match interview he seemed to be buzzing! Really seemed infectious as a character.
Rotherham have approached Posh to take coach Dale Tonge to become their assistant manager but have to agree compensation package according to Fry in local rag today . Hope this has legs as Tonge is responsible for some of the boring sidewards football Posh play & I think Tonge who's a Yorkshireman learnt his trade at Barnsley so fingers crossed .
Dale was with us as a player and did a bit of coaching for Warney when he was here. Supposedly (according to the usual ITK sources) he joined last week but nothing has been officially announced so who knows? Matt Hamshaw gets back from holiday today so maybe that's the hold up.
MacAnthony was on TalkSport 10-1 today & other than saying how much he was looking forward to his family holiday in Dubai next week when the window is closed didn't say a dickie bird about coaching changes just about Celtic & Fulham wanting Harley Mills . Personally , I won't miss Tonge , Dwight Gayle who's just completed his UEFA B license has been rumoured if this story has legs & he could also double up & show our misfiring strikers where the back of the net is .
All being well then it could work well for both clubs. Hamshaw seems intent on getting the old boys team back together. He's brought Richard Wood back from Donny as a coach, he already had Andy Warrington, who will be goalkeeping coach. There's talk of Lee Frecklington joining the coaching team, so Tonge will make up the set as assistant manager. We can give you JCH back in exchange for Tonge....................please!!!
Ha Ha ! JCH was a spent force when with us so I imagine 1 year older even more past his sell by date . Tonge has a buy out clause bizarrely enough , Lee Frecklington , another Posh ol' boy , you'll be getting yet another one in Joe Newell back on set piece coaching next
I think Joe might have got another couple of seasons left as a player if he gets over his injury. Joe was a fans favourite here right enough but Frecks was an absolute legend, he's even modelled this years centenary kit.
I watch Sportscene highlights on Saturday & Sunday as it features loads of ex Posh players plying their trade in Scottish Premiership but I'd be surprised if Newell lasted longer than next season , his legs have gone but still a wand of a left foot .
Brian Barry-Murphy: Cardiff City hold advanced manager talks with ex-Manchester City academy coach Cardiff in talks with Brian Barry-Murphy, and also have/had interest in Des Buckingham. Maybe we get second dibs on whoever they don’t choose? Whilst I’m not particularly enthusiastic, I’d much sooner have Buckingham over BBM.
