What??? Three games post CL games this season, we have won 1, drew 1 and lost 1??? (incidentally, you yourselves have only won 1 post CL game this season) Which is pretty much a tale of our season and hardly hideous.
Both rotated, true. But things aren't as simple as that. Chelsea rotated from a point of strength. We are going to win the group, and we were away to a team we really ought to have battered (having said that, they've had decent results at their place, two draws I think). Liverpool on the other hand could just as easily not qualify, and they rotated from a point of weakness given you were heavily beaten at home by Madrid. So yeah, it's different. I'd also say our rotated players are of better quality than the Liverpool second string. But as I've said elsewhere, it was a lost cause anyway. Madrid won a game we all knew they'd win. For Liverpool, in their current state, to have an expectation of winning they'd need all their best players out and a masterclass from Rodgers tactically. For me it was never going to happen that you got anything from the game. So I can't criticize Rodgers too much. It does say a lot about his ambitions this term, but maybe he's just being realistic.
Agreed, we did. Going there with a defensive set up was our best chance in my opinion. Rodgers picked a defensive team. . . Much ado about nothing tbh.
I won't dispute that tactically it was probably the way to go, although I'd want my team to have a proper go in the CL against the holders. I just don't think it's the same as Chelsea resting players, they could afford to.
What? They could afford to lose and still lead their group. They will qualify, most likely top. The real reason Mourinho got no shit from the media or fans is because his team are top in both tables, why should he be criticised for using his team's good work to his advance?
For **** sake this is the most boring argument ever, can we at least keep it to the CL thread or the rm vs Liverpool thread?
And the moment the champions league draw was made, everyone knew Liverpool's qualification would come down to winning the last 2 games, which is exactly what happened, so what's your point?
Are Liverpool fans just too proud to admit their club didn't even try and win on Tuesday? Maybe Rodgers is scared of having a record of 4 points from a possible 12 in his post CL games, so is doing all be can to show the extra CL games don't effect his league form?
Correct. Wouldn't have mattered who was in the group with Madrid the other three teams were going to be fighting for the second spot. weather it was Liverpool or someone else.
Really? You my want to go and check the threads then. Almost every red said Real would win their two games...meaning we'd have to probably win our last two.
I think you need to take a step back from FF, Brian, just a few days and for once I'm not on the wind up.
You realise you're backing up the point that Liverpool didn't bother trying now don't you? Why don't you have a break from arguing off the rails every five minutes and start thinking about what you're saying.
i think Rodgers did the right thing. Liverpool had a more important fixture coming up and at Madrid, they were meant to fight a lost battle. This gives Liverpool to stand a chance of winning against Chelsea.
Fans having realistic expectations =/= players and manager not trying, the two are completely independent and if you can't see that then you are a buffoon.
Young boy, the argument with Bleak was about resting players for Chelsea. He then said it was down to the last two games for Liverpool anyway leading on from that argument. Now this either means Bleak has taken a bizarre turn out of the context of the conversation, or he's saying it was fine for Liverpool to drop players as it didn't matter until said games. Finish your schooling before arguing with adults, son.
you arrogant uninformed idiot. Acting the big man when you are quite frankly a moronic waste of time.
