Probably a wise move on your part. Doesn't help that we even had Wrexham fans getting involved this morning claiming they'd bulk bought some to limit us. Even though it's just trolling they're still bloody obsessed with us.
Update - Play Off's Quarter Final (Eliminator) A Chorley FC 1-0 King's Lynn Town (Tuesday 29th April 2025) B Chester FC 2-1 Buxton FC (AET) (Wednesday 30th April 2025) Semi Final 1 Scunthorpe United v Chorley FC (Saturday 3rd May 2025) 2 Kidderminster Harriers v Chester FC (Sunday 4th May 2025)
Of the teams who got into the play offs it’s for me the right 4 left, they all at one stage of the season looked genuine title contenders and all when title looking theirs had a collapse……weird year. I’ve followed football since 1987 and I’d personally say this is the toughest play off four I’ve ever seen, all four very balanced all four easily could on their day play like an unbeatable side and all four could on their day play total clary. my guesses……..I think Chester may beat Kiddy who must be still reeling from that final day whereas Chester didn’t flog their form last day and go in on a high scunny vs Chorley…..hmmmm errrm I think Scunny because they are at home
Looks like Stockton are going to be booted out of the playoff final for promotion to the NL North after fielding an ineligible player in their playoff semi final win earlier in the week
FT Scunthorpe 4-2 Chorley SCU - Whitehall 5' & 22', Roberts 26' and Ubaezuonu 67' Chorley - Hall 7' & 78'
Can't see past Scunthorpe. Not confident about tomorrow and even if we win Scunthorpe are formidable at home
Hopefully another good game today, enjoyed the Scunny game, Cal Roberts was their major threat yesterday, was in tears limping off yesterday, hell of a player just knacked by injury, be a massive blow if he's out.
I don't know what to do with myself... early May has always been playoff time, coupled with crushing disappointment. Happened so many times I even partly 'semi-detached' myself from the team for two years, following the 0-2 lose to Kiddy in the playoff final 2023. Felt vindicated after another playoff final loss at home in 2024. Feel a bit of a twat now. Anyway, whichever of the 3 Northern teams go up, all would perhaps have the means to survive in the National League. From a purely selfish point of view, I'd prefer it to be Chester, simply because Brackley's goal has to be to find 4 teams below them by the end of the 2025-26 season... and I can see Scunthorpe doing well if they get up, whilst Kiddy are full time too, so perhaps Chester would struggle a bit more than those two? BTW, thank you to the people who passed on their congrats after last week. I still quite quite believe we finally made it... and even if it's only for a year, then - given I started watching Brackley when they were 3 divisions below, struggled to get 200+ attendences on a cold day, and are from a market town where 2/3rds of the population could fit into Scunthorpe's stadium... - it's been a journey.
Just didn't turn up today. We took the lead and froze. Didn't expect anything after last week and honestly based on both teams performances today Scunthorpe should be firm favourites.
