I didn't like season 2. I only found one episode somewhat entertaining. But there were just 8 shorts, so you shouldn't mind watching. Season 3 was return to form, & has my absolute favourite short 'The Very Pulse of the Machine'. Scavenger's Reign is brilliant. Do watch it as well.
i watched scavengers reign after reading @Ollie and @Zydus discussing it on here. It’s incredible and the best way I can describe it is ‘wondrous’ and ‘terrifying’ in equal measure. All of love, death and robots is worth a watch. Castlevania is really good as well if you’ve not seen it. One of my all time favourite animated shows
first two episodes of Black Doves, with Kiera Knightly and Ben Whishaw playing spies pretty strong start for the mini series
Carry On. Die Hard 2 with pernicious anemia and less deep than a bite from the toothless and emaciated. I thought it was awful and would have been conceivably more watchable if the lead actor had a personality or indeed showed the slightest bent for acting. It's only saving grace was the casting of Jason Bateman as the villain ,but even he couldnt lift this dross above the ordinary. It was basically a pastiche of all the 90's action films ,which wouldn't have been necessarily a bad thing if they would have applied a touch of imagination to the plot. It's the kind of typical drawn out shite Netflix roll out on a regular basis to rope people in and make no apologies for doing so.
KAOS - good satirical take on greek mythology in a mldern setting, nothing game changing but found it an enjoyable watch with some good comedic elements. Shame it got cancelled after 1 season 7/10
same as that, I really enjoyed it. It didn’t get high enough ratings based on what it cost unfortunately. Netflix has a habit of cancelling good shows. Jeff goldblum was brilliant as Zeus
Tedious isn’t it. Stopped watching after 10 mins. Your last paragraph summed it up nicely. There’s a pattern with these Netflix films. This time it was the regurgitated theme of the main character being aspired to better himself after wasting away his life doing the bare minimum, whilst evidentially everyone from management to the custodian at his job are good buddies with him. Add in the cliched wants him to be better cookie cutter model girlfriend, an unoriginal plot which is accompanied by several plot holes. You got yourself a Netflix cash n grab.
The thing that got me about it was the plot. Spoiler The guy was going to release a poisonous gas that would kill everyone on board in flight, yet the protagonist was going to somehow parachute to safety from what was either a large Boeing or Airbus aircraft. Now, should he somehow get to open the baggage compartment (he really wouldn't) and jump out, the fact that a baggage bay of that size being open would bring the aircraft down anyway. And he would be propelled at around 770kms per hour so he'd lose consciousness. The scene where our hero was on a baggage trolley heading towards the aircraft was hilarious, and the bloke in charge of flight ops asking a police officer via radio what excuse he could use to delay the flight. It was actually funnier than a Carry On with Syd James in it..
Just seen season 2 of Squid Game has dropped on Netflix, any takers? I'll probably watch it at some point, maybe start it when I finish what I'm currently watching.
To be fair the reasons you hated it are all the reasons I quite liked it - each to his / her's own I guess Started it last night and did episodes 1-3 will probably finish later today or tomorrow
I'm going to wait and see the initial reports, the original was exactly that, original, I'm not sure how a 2nd series is going to engage my attention again.
Obviously without giving anything away, any good? The surprise element of the first series isn't gonna be there but from the trailer I get it's more about the main character taking the game down? I'm on the second from last episode of The Burning Girls, and giving it a 4/10 would be being very generous. If i don't post again upgrading that rating then the last episode wasn't any better
It’s interesting to watch it knowing what is coming and what he’s doing to try and stop it. Definitely worth watching
I enjoyed it. Episode one was brilliant. Obviously it isn't going to be a carbon copy of the first but it is still very bingeable.
I like Korean dramas but not a fan of squid game tbh. I much preferred Alice in borderlands which was a Japanese manga and similar in many ways. If it gets good reviews I may watch it
I've watched eps. 1 & 2 and enjoyed both so far. Spoiler the russian roulette scene at the end of ep. 1 was pretty intense, especially with the mind games going on, kind of what you'd expect from Squid Game So far so good. Funnily enough it was Squid Game that got me into Korean stuff, I didn't realise how good it would be. Very good acting and some intense, dramatic scenes. I've watched Alice in Borderlands and enjoyed that as well.
