Our starting XI is so bad we need signings or we get relegated. Not confident will be able to sign anyone to improve the team.

Maybe a "lower profile" player may be better? Players who may not necessarily be the most attractive of player, but fits the profile of being professional and hard working. May not catapult you to the CL right away but could get you a solid top 10 finish/Europe league qualification?

I think going back to basics like that will work wonders.

Gibbs White seems to be their go to now.

For how high profile he is, I can’t say I’ve actually seen that much of Wirtz

I thought he could play off the left and drift central but I haven’t seen a huge amount of him.

He seems to have played off the left a bit for Leverkusen though according to Transfermarkt but I’ve no idea in all honesty.

Saw some Bayern accounts saying he’d play central and Musiala would go to the left so maybe they’ll keep Musiala central now and Mitoma left? Sane also potentially leaving on a free though so more likely to just be a direct replacement now that I think about it.

Just a very creative player with a high source of end product. Exactly like De Bruyne!

Very very good signing for Liverpool because he can play centrally as an #8 for those games where a team is stubborn to break down and for the more physical matches you can play him off the left as a wide technician type while the more dynamic physical players can engage in the midfield battle.

Let's see if it happens, Ornstein in both tweets has made the point that the deal with Leverkusen still needs to be agreed but this is just further proof of how it works in transfers now. You get the agreement with the player first before arranging the deal with the club and try use the players preference to move to you as a means to get the fee down.

'Clubs would still need to agree deal - not a formaility'
''Wirtz was in North West England to house hunt before Liverpool switch should it proceed'

So we'll see how much Leverkusen dig their heels in but I suspect they won't settle for naything less than £100m.

Hammer blow for City. Wirtz to MGW and your title rivals get your KDB replacement? Yikes.

I can't believe this, it's an unreal signing if it goes through. Every club in the world wanted this guy. He has world class talent, potentially world class.

If he signs it's a dynasty, nevermind just next season.

It's the only realistic way to get back up the table. We have to forget about tropgies and CL football and aim to be a mid table team so we can avoid relegation the next few years. The only issue is that even average PL players are unlikely going to want to join United at the moment.

Unbelievable if we can get this Wirtz deal over the line but no idea where Slot plays him he loves Szobo so won't drop him. Maybe he's coming in to play a free role as a false 9 could be an option.

Not that any of us needing convincing otherwise but I think this Wirtz deal kills any chance of Isak leaving Newcastle this summer too.

Not getting hopes high with this Wirtz thing, because we have been here before with many midfielders. Would be a tremendous statement if the club manage to pull this off.

One thing I am absolutely glad about is that this kills the rumours about Xavi Simons. Absolutely don't like him.

Graeme Bailey was saying we want both earlier today lol. But yeah that one would be a hard one to get done financially alongside a Wirtz deal plus Frimpong and Kerkez. Newcastle will get CL as well, and he doesn't seem the type to kick up a fuss.

To think, some of your fans think a new striker would win you the league. Unless Wirtz is playing false 9 we're getting a new one of them as well...

We can only focus on ourselves. New faces in attack in theory should increase our chances of gaining more points in the other 36 matches we play in the league outside of matches against Liverpool. But I think how Liverpool attack is still the top trump in all this. They're likelier to break down a stubborn defence than we are.

But again, we as a collective only have to focus on ourselves and not go too high or too low regarding the business of others. Liverpool could have prime Pele flanked by Messi and Ronaldo, it still makes absolutely zero difference to our ability to break down teams.

€150M for Wirtz apparently. Insane singing and arguably the most exciting we've ever made assuming it goes through.

Ultimately he's 28 now and so if he wants to go off and play for a champions league team then I don't think we should stand in his way. Will probably change my thoughts on that if we sneak into Europe, but unless that happens it is what it is

Would be frustrating to lose him as he's a very fun player and we probably already needed a signing on the LW - Adingra/Enciso I believe are both in the last years of their contracts and so probably need to be sold as well, and I'm not aware of any LW loanees seeming like they'd be ready for the step up to starting

Sesko but I wouldn't be disappointed if we ended up with Gyokeres either.

I just look at how teams set up against us and think a lot of Gyokeres' positive points would be nullified by the lack of space. And then I look at Sesko's 6ft 5 frame and see a player who can reach certain balls and crosses that defenders wouldn't be able to. And there's less of a question around Sesko with regards to does the quality and performances transfer over. The Bundesliga is a stronger league than the Primera Liga.

Both have their red flags and I don't believe either are guaranteed hits like Isak would be but beggars can't be choosers.

So yeah I'd say Sesko, just.

It's really hard to know what we're going to do. Protuguese media are adamant we're in talks with Gyokeres and German media are now saying we're moving for Sesko  Oh and Spanish media say we're sniffing around Rodrygo so there's that too.

I think you're getting advanced with both then deciding between them.

I'd rather have Ekitike I think, his link up is better. Both of those players work for Arsenal. I think Gyokeres would have a quicker impact, Sesko has some outstanding attributes but is still very raw.

best out there are Isak and Alvarez for me but unrealistic.
