Peter Thompson bagged what should have been the winner as we drew 2-2 with a Man City first team.

In the 86th minute he recieved the ball low in the box, swivelled and fired a shot into the top corner past Schmeichel to make it 2-1 to County.

Of course City got a 91st minute "penalty" and equalised. Apparently sliding challenges in your own penalty area are now illegal.

But Pistol's finally opened his account and has been wroking tirelessly on his own up front. Just thought you'd like to know. :thumb

BTW - did he have a strike partner at Linfield or was he on his own? He's playing as a point striker for us but I think he could do with a partner to feed him TBH.

Good to hear peter has scored his first goal for stockport . I'm sure he will score plenty more once he settles in . No disrespect to stockport or league 1 but i think he should be playing in the championship at least .

Yeah, he will be a first team regular. Probably first name of the teamsheet.

Well he bagged one on Saturday, but it'll be a massive help for him to have a partner. If so, around 20 goals this season. Hopefully. :D

And yeah, if Pistol can keep scoring and we havea good start, we have a great squad so possibly challenging for Play-Offs this season?

    Good luck this season. :)

I wasn't at County on Saturday as I went to Derby to see my other team FC Utrecht.

I met a couple of Linfield guys who were raving over Thompson. I really am optimistic about him.

Also looks like a Stockport/Linfield connection could be forming and I foresee a few trips across the water (both ways).

Maybe a friendly between the two clubs wouldn't be a bad idea .

We're talking about heading over to stockport later in the season. You can teach us your version of the ""scarf" my father wore" and we'll teach you ours. :thumb

As AB was saying hopefully its the start of a good relationship between the two clubs.
