I would be happy for Mansfield to come back aswell, Matt Green excellent job again, like he did firing us to promotion with James Constable
That's why I think that, although we have to win all our remaining games to have any chance, the timing of our trip to your place could be very good for us.
Stating the obvious but looking very likely Fleet will win the title so we have one of the playoff spots. Leaves three places up for grabs. Mansfield are seven points inside the playoffs with a much better goal difference that the others so they look certs to claim another place. Leaves two places and with York, Kiddy and Southport on 70 points while Luton and Gatehead have 67 this will be a nervy time for all teams involved in the scrap for just two places. Would even go down to Grimsby on 65 points battling on. Just hope we can pick up a few wins before the league campaign is over as do not want to be playing a playoff semi-final on the back of a bad finish.
We're still in it after yesterday's win and I wouldn't quite count out Gateshead yet either because of their game in hand against Luton. Realistically it should be between York, Kidderminster, Southport and Luton for the last two spots now, but there will be more twists in this yet.
Wrexham, Luton, York and Mansfield. I think Wrexham should win it as they are the 2nd best team in the division.
In an ideal world we would go up but the playoffs do n't always reward the team that finished in the highest position of the playoff spots. Don't want to think to far ahead TBH as we have three league matches left and want to if possible win all three starting on Friday away to Mansfield. Need to be going into the playoffs on the back of a good end to the season.
Mansfield's form seems to be really good, doesn't it? Their last 13 games is something like Won 11 /Drawn 1 / Lost 1 - scoring 35 goals in the process. The loss and the draw were both against Fleetwood who are obviously the best team in the league. Just hope for the Stags sake they haven't peaked too early!? I suppose the game against Wrexham tomorrow could be a good indicator?
Looking forward to the play offs in quite a few of the non league divisions. Question though, below the BSP am I right in think play off finals are played at the highest placed teams home ground and not a neutral venue? Will definitely look to go to Mansfield's home leg...Ilkeston definitely aswell. Belper is really close to me if they make it which they look likely to do. Be good if those two met in the final. Gotta love the drama of the play offs whatever the level!
That's right. The general idea is to encourage teams to finish as high as possible, especially if one team runs away with the league. It also saves on admin costs of finding a suitable alternative venue.
I'll be at Ilkeston's home leg which will be this coming Monday. I'd love to see an Ilkeston -v- Carlton final, that would be great. It's a shame Forest and Derby both play at home on the last day of the FL season because it clashes with the final. Hope it doesn't dent the attendance too much I was gonna head up Mansfield -v- Wrexham tonight, but I'm gonna give it a miss and go to their p-o home leg on Bank Holiday instead. Are you in Derby for Uni? Was it you who was talking about Osmaston Fish Bar? What a place that is....
Its incredible. I didnt think WSM fish and chips could be beaten..but my God. Aye Im at Derby Uni. Best thing about Derby compared to WSM is its proximity to countless football clubs. Feck me thats a quick turnaround..They only finish their season tomorrow? So they do both semi final legs and the final inside a week? Shouldnt Ilkeston be on the road first anyway given they've finished higher? Or different rules apply below the BSP? So long as we dont balls it up tomorrow and I dont have to go to Burnley on the last day Ill definitely head to the final..If it stays as it is and depending on when they are Ill hit both semi's aswell at Belper and Ilkeston. Mansfield's home leg is a definite aswell. Been years since Ive been there..Be nice to return to the place of my favourite ever game.
