We have a relegation thread so might as well have a promotion one

Based on so far who's top 6?

Pre season I said mid table for us. Going by early games I'll go with 8th-9th with us missing out on play offs.

I'd be pretty disappointed with anything below 2nd.

From what we've seen so far I reckon Ipswich and Coventry will be top two. Leicester nailed on for top 6 unless the deductions are considerable, still think Brum will be there or there abouts with or without Davies and Southampton will get going at some point, again possibly with a change of manager.

Tipped Millwall for top 6 in pre-season and whilst they've not performed great so far, they're still up there.

West Brom, Bristol City, Stoke, Swansea etc will be vying for 6th I imagine but will be a few disappointed fanbases come May.

by no means do the majority of Wrexham fans think they will be involved in this thread much, but we thought this the last two seasons too

    Never say never.

Mid table for us unless we can find a gem of a striker in January. But it's looking like we should be good for top half this year which was the aim at the start of the season and would represent significant progress on the last few years. We have a sniff of the playoffs but to do that we'll have to find a way to convert our regular spells of dominance into goals. We've probably thrown away 4-6 points in the last 3 games through poor finishing and poor decision making.

Think our striker situation is going to massively impact our chances as Still seems to want to play with a big man up top.

Hopefully we can stay in touch the rest of the year and then use the January window to rectify that.

League seems a lot closer than last time we were here.

I still think we'll go up and i wouldn't rule out automatics, this league is batshit and the quality is a lot lower than last time we were down. It doesn't take a huge run of games and you're right back in the mix, and on paper we've got the squad to do that.

In all seriousness, comfortable mid-table is obviously the most probable outcome, but 6th isn't a pipe dream if we avoid injuries.

Our worst performance by a huge distance was against Bristol City and we still got a draw somehow. And our only defeat was at Portsmouth when we were missing Osmajic, Devine, Armstrong, and Dobbin.

We do have much, much better depth this year, so hopefully Heckingbottom can rotate when he needs to, so we don't see a host of injuries at the same time.

When we were near the top under Lowe, it was pure fluke, our XG for and against was laughable. But this season, our performances have deserved the points haul. Drew against Bristol City when we should have lost, but drew with Hull when we should have won. The rest were all fair results.

    Still really ****ing early though.

Yeah looks a typical Championship close-run thing to me too so far. Love it. I have no faith that Leicester will get much of a punishment but wait and see I guess. Could make all the difference to the top two. Coventry look the early contenders for sure, and we’ve still got plenty of work to do to get there ourselves. Put together a few games at the right time and it could be (nearly!) anyone’s.

Agree with the quality of the league being lower and certainly wouldn't write us off this early.

Just need to see some of that tactical flexibility that Still apparently likes, as so far he's seemed to want to play with a big man up top and we've now only got Downs in that mould.

I'd like to think we can continue this form but it's 9 games and there is along way to go. Am I ruling it out? No, but realistically I would be happy with the playoffs.

Leicester (no idea what is happening with their points deduction), Southampton & especially Ipswich will turn it on. I hope Stoke can keep it up because of Robins and if we're in the playoffs, Boro will be, we do everything together and wont be separated.

Norwich, Bristol, Millwall will all be around, I think it'll be even tighter this season with more teams in the hunt for the playoffs.

Leicester and Cov for me based on what I've seen.

Ipswich, Boro, Southampton, Birmingham play offs.

Think we could be in with a shout of 6th, but probably I don't think it's particularly likely.

We either getting no deduction or they waiting to see how many they need to deduct to ensure we not top 6.

Norwich look more likely to go down than up at the moment. Natives restless, manager they hate, DOF who clearly doesn’t know his a*se from his elbow, it will take some sorting out.

I presume they will make changes and end up mid-table somewhere but it’s not great at the moment.

Can’t see us troubling the playoff places unless we replace Davies quickly enough. I’m fully expecting to hear a hissing sound in Coventry around January as their bubble gets a slow puncture but fair play to them if they maintain this form.

They do, but we, as much as anyone know that November positioning doesn't mean a great deal. Plus I'm basing it on the confidence of @KeiranShikari

Life isn't fair, you won't get one. I mean you've screwed local businesses into the ground so much they introduced the rules. Your big money lawyers will get you off.

I think it will happen before then, our November is savage. I'm not being negative but realistic, we're on unsustainable form but I'd rather be here than where we've been in recent seasons! The opportunity is there.

If the magic was to happen, we did it without a Thai billionaire and putting local companies out of business.

    ..... I may have had a drink :argue:laugh:

That's smart. In the last couple of games we've started to connect passes. Despite results the heads haven't really dropped. We've got several key players coming back to fitness. Lack of cohesion has been our biggest problem this season, not squad quality, and time is really the only healer there.

I do however think the next home match is pivotal for Manning and Knapper. Lose it and I think Carrow Road turns to the point where it's untenable and the owners will be forced to change. Almost poetic that the match is Bristol City.

Far too many teams involved at present... I think it's too close to call yet, about Christmas will show the movers and shakers. The only team who are seriously performing at the moment is Coventry... several players there scoring goals for fun... I'm surprised Zippy is doing so well tbh but credit due.
