Over the past couple of years the French authorities have come down very hard on Ultras. Every major and minor ultras group is under threat, which means they can't show their group banners or any insignia at matches now, let alone light flares. Many groups have been suspended for the time being until things gets cleared up and the problems stop, but by the sounds of it the state have the upper hand and it's likely these groups will be permanently suspended - the Ultras movement is coming to an end in France. Bearing all that in mind it's hardly surprising that they'll go down hard on these Manure fans.
I think the ultras movement is great, some of the displays you see in Europe and South America are quite simply 'breathtaking'. However, the movement will never take off here, thankfully. Quite enjoy seeing the different ultras groups on my travels around Europe.
Respect Ultras, but hate all these 'British Ultras' singing weird songs and looking like knobs. Be a proper traditional fan.
