I understand the point you're making. But while I recognise that I am an outsider to these matters, it feels to me that the severity of the error the Rangers hierarchy made not just in appointing Martin but in allowing the situation to deteriorate to the extent it did before he was sacked means they now have little choice other than to prioritise getting the fanbase back onside over longer term aspirations. If that means going down an ex-player route, even if only for a few weeks until the alleged new frontrunner becomes available (assuming the current reports and betting trends are correct), that is probably a less difficult scenario for the owners than appointing someone like Rohl whose background looks all too similar to that of the man he would replace even if he is more suited to the job.
Tend to agree with this, wouldn't surprise me if Bazza Ferguson was brought back in, at least in interim basis, to keep the wolves at bay.
It was the right move in the summer. He'll steady the ship and get the people back on side. New contracts for tav, butland and njiga please
It could well end up going that way, even if it's on an interim basis. The only person being linked with the job at the minute is Kevin Muscat. Imagine he's probably on a fair bit of money with Shanghai though, and don't know how easy it would be to get him out of his contract if he was interested.
You wonder why players would go over and applaud "fans"who have been booing and shouting abuse at them.
Probably not, but they'll never have a better chance. Celtic are as poor as I've seen them in years, and Rangers aren't in the equation. Rodgers is lucky that the problems at Ibrox are deflecting the heat away from him, but that could change quickly.
The BIG 2 only managing to spawn 1 point from 6 between them is what weekends are made for . I wonder if they keep the framed Ange picture on Sportscene table tonight ?
