It appears that in Trumpland billionaires won't have to worry about any rules, regulations or environmental concerns so long as they cough up enough dosh.

As I said in the other thread, this is not a surprise. In US election years, more often than not Person of the Year goes to whoever won. You have to go all the way back to the Clinton re-election year of 1996 to find the most recent example of the president elect not being named Person of the Year (and Clinton did get it in 1992).

I think the big surprise it wasn't someone like Netanyahu, but other than him, Trump certainly makes the most sense for it.

Honestly, I feel like it should've been the internet/social media or like Joe Rogan if they want a person, not because of anything to do with Rogan himself but because this election proved online media is now mainstream media. That's a much more longer-term shift than Trump and would have happened with or without Trump at some point, its much more historic and influential IMO.

    Meanwhile...

RFK's Lawyer Has Asked the F.D.A. to Revoke Approval of the Polio Vaccine - NYT

We have to be living in a simulation. This is just too cartoonishly evil. If you wrote characters like this in a story - Really, your bad guys are so evil they even revoke the Polio vaccine for some reason? - you'd be laughed at by everyone and called a childish amateur. This is also yet another reversal of a good for humanity thing done by the Greatest Generation. The world's regressed hard the more of them die.

I read about this earlier but couldn't find a reputable link . . . so it's actually true? :dunce:

After the smallpox vaccine I reckon the polio jab is arguably the most successful in the history of the human race, surely even the organge rapist's cabal of semi-literate bible bashers can't dream up a valid reason to ban it?

As if they function on any valid reasoning at all in the first place. The worst part is Trump's approval has jumped 3pts since the election despite his insane cabinet nominations.

I wonder if this is due to economy continuing to improve as a result of Biden’s inflation bounce back that people are falsely attributing to a Trump factor.
