I believe there was a conversation and he made himself available. But he obviously needs to work his way back but if he reaches the form and fitness we saw in 2023/2024, he should be in imo. I think he's as tactically versatile as any other option there.
Pathetic if he's considered next in line ahead of Tyrick Mitchell who's arguably been the most consistent LB in the PL over the past few seasons, and part of one of the best defences in the league since Glasner came in.
Yes you sre right. Mitchell should be under consideration. If James is no 1 rb then livaramento should be no 2. Rb. But this is down to whether arteta gives skelly any time this year instead of the orcs. If not then players like spence and Mitchell have to be real options
A few like MGW and Rogers perhaps a bit fortunate to be based there on form. Maybe Lewis-Skelly too as he seems a rotation option rather than a starter for Arsenal.
Interesting dilemma for him. He's probably benefited from the Livramento injury and England not being particularly blessed with options in his position. He's still young so it's not disastrous if he doesn't go to this World Cup but it's hard to ignore it once the carrot has been dangled infront of you. Might push for a loan in January if he doesn't start getting more minutes, I think he'd be silly to want to leave Arsenal entirely at this point of his career.
I'd be shocked if this were to become a thing. Calafiori is fairly injury prone, we are all here just waiting for his knee to decide it's had enough for six weeks.
I suppose it depends on the circumstances. If Calafiori gets injured that'll help his cause. However if he wants to go to a World Cup and the lack of minutes are harming his chances then he'll potentially have a decision to make. He should play plenty with four competitions but Tuchel's comments seem a bit of a warning to him.
It's up to Tuchel. We have other left-backs but we have no other left-backs that can do what Lewis-Skelly does. And that's up to Tuchel to factor into his decision making. We do have Alexander-Arnold and James over on the right that can invert if he wants a full-back doing that.
No Mitchell or Wharton is pretty wild, especially when you see who's in, but it's good for us so WGAS
I think there is an inherent risk with picking regulars regardless of the game ie Kane, Pickford and others for friendlies or easy wins, and then chopping and changing who you pick from the fringe players I've long felt in football, and cricket, have a core squad of players for say two years to be revised after said period and pick players only from that core squad during the period of course might have to be a bit bigger than regulation 23 but at least the players get regular chances not in one squad one month, out the next, and thus only slowly gain some experience before next flavour of the month comes in and suffers the same isn't like we don't know what Kane, Walker, Henderson, Shaw, Pickford, Rice and others can do, give runs over said two years to the fringe players and use those players when needed only I was going to say yes, but given its a squad of 23 should England be taking players to be "very decent" or just 2 for every position and minimal jacks of all trades, masters of none..... If he gets in the squad as a CB and better options at RB are all injured/suspended then fair enough, it does rather come across like picking a bowler/spinner for his batting ability not his bowling ability though almost feels like he's going tried and trusted even though some of these players should have headed off to the knackers yard yonks ago
Second string squads with 6 subs potentially tonight for England v Wales so it'll just be half time highlights ,not a fan of friendlies so I'm gonna watch Scotland v Greece which has more of an edge to it with 3 teams vying for top 2 places in W.C. Qualification group , saying that , it'll probably end up 0-0 .
England apparently "underdogs" (for the World Cup) which is code for got the talent but can they play as a team and win when it matters England will be 'underdogs' at World Cup - Thomas Tuchel focus more on who can play a (good) system than brand name primadonnas, if that means big names don't start then so be it both foreign coaches (Greece 2004) and weaker teams (Greece 2004) can win tournaments, England and Belgium good examples of where plenty of talent gets you only so far and not necessarily silverware
Think Tuchel has jumped the gun a bit in that statement and trying to relieve the pressure on him when he realistically knows the only way he keeps his job is by winning the tournament. Anything less and there's no merit in having binned Southgate off.
