Tuchel had a pop at the Wembley crowd saying they were too quiet .

Was that his first game there ?

Probably just the norm for such a game tbh .

Barring injury Djed Spence is certainly in the World Cup squad now. Probably the current starting LB and offers versatility in different defensive positions and on the wing if needed..

Couldn't have been further from the case, regardless of the score.

It's a friendly ffs (why are we still even having friendlies despite the Nation's League supposedly replacing them).

But England games shouldn't be at Wembley, they should go around the country if you want a more enthusiastic crowd. Maybe Tuchel should take that up with the FA.

It's not the English anthem they booed but the British one (Wales are part of Britain).

England doesn't have our own anthem (although it should be Jerusalem).

That’s a poor excuse for our fans, there’s no reason Wembley can’t be enthusiastic. Sadly it’s only on big games these days where you’ll get an atmosphere there

The Nations League wasn't never intended to replace all friendlies. This week we are only paying one qualifier, leaving a free spot for a friendly. As it is, Tuchel doesn't have many games to work with his squad, so he needs to make use of 2 games per break.

Agree on your point about it only being a friendly, which is why it was quiet. I don't think that would have changed if it was played somewhere else, the game was over after 20 mins and the second half was crap.

Wembley has never been good for England games for the most part. Unless its an actual Euros or World Cup. Atmosphere picked up a lot when they went around the country when the new one was being built.

But friendlies are friendlies. You might get a bit more atmosphere for a home nations game if it's competitive and not a total mismatch.

Travelling back from Wembley midweek excludes most of the country.

English fans always make excuses about terrible atmospheres, its only a friendly? Well its like that for qualifiers too....Wembleys awful for crerating an atmosphere...well the welsh had no problems and when it was at villa park the atmosphere was dreadful.

Time just to admit the english fans are just quiet.

Well said Michael Owen (England manager should be English)

I applaud Wales for having a Welsh manager lead them out at Wembley last night. But we the much bigger neighbouring country have a foreign manager lead us out. Embarrassing.

Forgot what year it was but I remember like 4 or 5 South American nations’ managers were all Argentine

Not sure Owen ever lived in England himself, except when he was boarding at Lilleshall? He grew up in Hawarden and I believe bought his current family home near Mold before he moved to Real Madrid. He apparently did a lot of midweek commutes to the various clubs he's played for.

Despite that I don't think he ever actually qualified for Cymru during his playing career, as the nearest maternity hospital when he was born was over the border in Chester and his parents/grandparents are English/Scottish.

He is of course free to hold whatever views he like about the nationality of the England manager.

Didn't he get a helicopter ride to and from training at Newcastle?

So I see they spent last nights match raising awareness of dementia? I'd completely forgot about it.

A lot of the England travel club members only go to friendlies in order to get the caps required to be able to attend away games. I used to be a member and used to a large quantity scan their tickets in and plan to be in the pub or on the train home by half time.

Did see a lot of comments about empty seats towards the end. Anyone with any sense leaves Wembley before the final whistle to avoid the crush into Wembley Park station. Really they should move these games around the country but I guess the FA still see the $$$ signs and want as much at Wembley as possible.

It was even worse at villa park, no atmosphere and empty seats too. We're not like the welsh/scots/irish we're just much more reserved, I'm always surprised that people are surprised that the atmosphere is so bad in England.

That performance was ****ing horrific though. It's hard to get excited about a game when we hammer a team like Andorra it's even harder to get excited about a tepid performance like that.

Growing up in the 90s, I can’t remember old Wembley atmosphere as watching England was mostly at Old Trafford, it was the same at old Wembley too?

I’ve been to see England at new Wembley probably 20-30 times the last 10 years and unless it’s the knock outs of Euros or when we suddenly turned it around against Croatia in the last 5 mins (nations league 2019), it’s been crap

Very much so in the 90s with the exception of Euro 96 (Gazza goal onwards). Even the last England game at old Wembley that was against Germany was dire (albeit England lost). It noticeably improved when the FA were forced to go around the country in the early 2000s when Wembley was rebuilt. Then they just kept them at Old Trafford for a few years which lost novelty after a while. It should go around the country.

From the FA's point of view what is the point of Wembley if they don't hold England games there aswell as all the other events.
