I really want to know what retard at the Sun did the match ratings.

TOTTENHAM: Friedel 6, Walker 6, King 6, Kaboul 7, Assou-Ekotto 6, Lennon 6, Parker 8, Modric 6, Bale 7, Adebayor 9, Van der Vaart 7. Subs: Defoe (Van der Vaart 69) 5, Sandro (Modric 90) 5. Not used: Cudicini, Gallas, Giovani, Bassong, Pienaar.

    MODRIC 6?? Lennon 6?? Walker 6? Bale 7?!

All four of those were absolutely superb tonight.

A little surprising, in truth though I'm not fussed by the individual performances/ratings.
That was a team tonight. Every one of them fought for that win, as poor as I felt Villa were we didn't care.

There is something special about this squad of players. Individually I feel we have great players in every position but tonight I don't think there was an individual on the pitch.

Villa looked a million miles out of their depth with our performance tonight.
It's as if Harry decided on a training session for his comeback, went with his best team and plucked 11 blokes off the street to play against.

Confidence is far too high atm, the crash is going to be hard when it comes

I think no matter how good we have looked in recent years that feelign is always there with us spurs fans  you just cant help but feel after all the false dawns and collapses we suffered over the years that things are looking a little too rosy and something will come aroumd the corner to **** things up. But i dunno something seems to have changed under redknapp, i just trust us that little bit more. Having said that i always look at the hawthorns as scope for dropping points.

PS.The sun are a joke, what lazy insulting journalism that is.

It's a little amusing in some respects.
City, Spurs and Newcastle make up the top 4 at the minute. Have our fans not suffered enough already without the need to give us hope and belief?

In all honesty though I was like that the season we finished 4th, I genuinely believed in this team but even on the day of the game at Eastlands I was bricking it as if it was too good to be true.

I've got so much belief (delusion ;)) in this squad but at the same time you're waiting for the bubble to burst.

 thats a nice way of looking at it. Thats why i cant get that bitter about city, ive said it before and it really is a crazy, crazy thought, can you imagine if city hadnt won the lottery? we'd be right up there for the title, its a possiblity anyway if you took them out of the equation.

But i know city fans are feeling just like us right now, in absolute disbelief at where they are and theyve suffered even more then us. Thats why, even though it stops us going even further, i cant resent there wealth too much, cos i know how it feels to have neighbours up the road winnign everything while your doing shit and wondering if youll ever have your moment. ( And we never got as low as the third divison, our suffering was a doddle compared to them, as long as its those fans who were filling out maine road in the third divison who are enjoying it, ill let them have their glory and good on em i say)

well i was plowed last night but was it just me or were we amazing? villa are a team i fully expect to finish in the top 10 and we destroyed them and the expected second half onslaught didnt occur whatsoever.

SL those SUN ratings are hilarious. i learned this along time ago- dont pay any attention to newspaper ratings, thay are usually stupid. i know charlie wyett of the SUN and he told me journalists dont even watch most of the game because they are typing the whole time during the game. modric was world class last night- modric a 6?:laugh:

as for the much anticipated "crash" i am dreading that aswell. i always used to view it as a special evening whenever Spurs won a game. i always knew no matter what happened in my life i'd always be in a good mood for the evening if Spurs won a game. i cant say that any more because we always seem to win. the enigma is gone

i am glad Sky Sports highlighted kabouls performance. he never gets a mention in neutral areas buts he been amazing this season. i dont think cahill is better than him and i think dawson has a struggle to get back in side (cant believe im saying that about 'beckenbauer').

    my ratings (i was plowed)
    friedel: 5 (nothing to do)
    walker: 7
    king: 7.5
    kaboul: 8
    BAE: 8
    lennon: 7.5
    parker: 7
    modric: 9
    bale: 8
    VDV: 7
    Adebayor: 8

Modric was absolutely outstanding yesterday, maybe his best performance of the season, IMO. He completely controlled midfield dictating the pace of the game… either speeding it up or slowing it down, he was fantastic.

Bale was back pretty damn good as well. I thought he was back to his menacing best despite being double marked by cuellar and Hutton.

Lennon had his best game this season. He is starting to gain confidence again, and when he is playing this well he is very hard to contain, similar to Bale in some respects.

Another good game from Parker. This is becoming the norm for him now, an 8-out-of-10 player in every game for me this season. Very consistent performer and he gives the likes of Bale Lennon, Modric and VdV a platform to display their considerable skill and footballing ability which is paramount to the way we play. He is a remarkable player, and I do not mind admitting saying I was wrong about him (very, very wrong in fact!).

VdV was OK, certainly not his best game but he was good for the 70+ minutes he was on the field.

Ade scored two but he could have, and probably should have, had at the very least a hat-trick to his name. He was brilliant up front nonetheless.

King and Kaboul played well, though they were hardly troubled by Villa in all honesty. BAE was BAE, and I thought Walker once again impressed with his pace and forward play.

Up to third and deservedly so. I hope we don’t get carried away with this game, because while we were excellent I thought Aston Villa were horrible (Mcliesh is turning them into a very yawnsome, defensive side - Birmingham?). I don’t think we will find it quite as ‘easy’ against WBA next time around.

    Probably Gal P.

3rd thus far is very impressive after the start we had. we're looking very good for top-4 this season but I would add that there is a very long way to go yet.

    Welcome to the board.

I think ALL of us will admit we were wrong about parker. i knew he was good but i didnt think that much of him. when his signing flashed up i thought 'oh god. typical harry going for an old, experienced english player and we have a brilliant young brazilian DM already'. my god was i wrong!!! outside silva & van persie hes the player of the season for me, certainly our player of the season.

same as krancjar a couple of years ago. didnt think much of him when we signed him- and then within 2 months or so i realised what a class player he was.

The thing was Villa didn't look a defensive side yesterday. That was the sort of game I was expecting where they'd be more content in trying to stop us play and get anything from the game. I honestly thought we'd see a typical Mcliesh side show up but there was absolutely nothing to Villa.
The sad thing is they were as poor offensively as they were defensively. I don't think you'll see a worse performance this season in truth.

Said about Parker a while back, I really wasn't happy with the signing but he's exceeded all expectations. It wasn't that he was necessarily a bad player I just didn't think he'd do as he has done.
In truth I always thought the media overhyped Parker's individual contribution at West Ham. Maybe not :hmmm

I think they were incredibly negative in the way they set out to play. 5 at the back (or was Hutton supposed to be on theright wing)? Heskey in midfield? N'Zogbia and Ireland on the bench? All ridiculous, IMO. Not that I thought they would get anything from us but with the team Mcleish put out they never had a chance, IMO. I don't know the ins and outs of what happens at Villa but to me that is horrendous for a Club like tghem.

The easiest and most comfortable game i've seen at WHL for a long time.. Poor tactics coupled with an even poorer performance, thought their fans were decent though.

    Luka - ran the game
Parker - energy all over the pitch
Adebayor - Just amazing on the ball but ,more suprising off the ball
Kaboul - If theres a better centre half at the mo I've not seen him hes getting better every game

That's the thing that's irritated me with people criticising the lack of recent goals. His all round game has been good enough to warrant his place regardless, his effort is unquestionable too.

I felt he was superb Monday, it obviously helped he added goals too but his workrate and other sides to his game are quality too. Top top striker.
