A few pals were signing up to something called Tough Mudders and tried to get me involved, I had a look and wasn't sure, I put my decision down to a game of rock, paper, scissors... and lost. So now I'm signed up and in serious training. For anyone that doesn't know it is a 12 mile course with 25+ hardcore obstacles dotted throughout it (one every half a mile or so). Obstacles include things like wading through waist high mud, carrying logs up steep hills, crawling through 2ft wide, bending, claustrophobic pipes submerged in water, sprinting through a field of dangling, high electrical current wires, going over a series of greased monkey bars submerged high above a lake of ice-cold water and the list goes on... (some more can be seen more in depth here: http://www.mensfitness.com/training/endurance/tough-mudders-20-most-badass-obstacles) I'm taking this quite seriously now I'm hitting the gym regularly for training and my diet has changed as well. I figured there was no point in running this course for no reason, if I'm going to do it I may as well have a cause and so have decided to raise money for Cancer Research UK in doing this run. I'm sure I don't need to sit here and try and convince anyone how much of a worthy cause Cancer Research is, some of you may have been affected by or know somebody who has been affected by cancer. If ANYONE could donate towards this cause, even a pound would help and be appreciated that would be great. http://www.justgiving.com/ToughMuddersRHDL
Why pay for it...Just go to the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines in Lympstone Devon..........you get a green beret at the end of it
Cant see the motivation in it. Why would i wanna run into electrical fences, through jaggy nettles and so on? Not sure what you could possibly prove to yerself if doing this "course". Each to there own of course, more fool them
Now they are hard bastards. Apparently they have to complete the course with a piano strapped to their backs.
They also have to survive in Welsh mountain areas.....I can see why Harry binned the idea the 6.00 am mudflats of the Exe estuary at low tide are so harsh........ http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/The-Fle...mando-Training-Centre-Royal-Marines-Lympstone
Snowdonia i seem to recall. Now these guys really are something else. Bear Grylls can f*ck off living in the wild when you have these chaps doing it for real and not cheating like he does. Really are 'ard as fook.
Ooooh shut up, oooh shut up, sound like a right old woman. Jeeeeezuz H got my stalker again. Please go and hassle someone else.
Nope the Marines have a base camp in the Brecon Beacons...Snowdonia and it's park are too commercial.....can you imagine the look on your kids face when he/she sees a real face painted person pointing a **** off big barrel sniper rifle at him/her and shouting this ain't no Call Of Duty kiddo.......
Aah yes the Brecon Beacons it is. Where i got Snowdonia from i have not got a clue. Think i made it up TBH.
One of my lecturers at college has done this event and is going to do more of them. He said it was brutal and he is an ex-bodybuilder. He is also in training for cross-fit events, don't know if anyone has heard of that but he's an absolute fitness freak. I have actually got him for a fitness session tomorrow, and the sessions regularly make people sick, so wish me luck
Someone at work was trying to organise a few people doing this at some point. It does look pretty brutal, not sure I'd be able to do it in all honesty. Such a lazy and unfit b*stard. I'll donate something once I've been paid at the end of the month though
And I'm a weed who's only been seriously training a couple of months. It's gunna be the death of me but I'm determined to see it through and actually quite excited for it!! Haha! I WILL finish it and I will finish it well. Cheers pal. Appreciated.
