Now now Stocky enough of your nonsense. We do need to think the squad but the ones who need to go are jot the highest earners.

We released 8 players and have a contracted squad of 27- some of which will get loaned out (youngsters) and others will be moved on over the summer- Will Boyle and Luke Bolton didnt play a minute last season and the likes of Mendy and Ollie Palmer have reached their ceiling.

But they're under contract aren't they? Which is my point, you're going to have to offload these players and pay a portion of their wages because other teams aren't going to cover it all.

What do we think is going to happen to Paul "Paul Mullin" Mullin this summer? How long has he got left on his deal? Did a great job in the NL and L2. Parky didn't fancy him in L1, can't see that being any different in the Championship.

Mulllin essentially missed two pre-seasons - first with that horror tackle in the US tour against Man U which resulted in a punctured lung and broken ribs, and the second as he elected to have back surgery to try and cure some long standing niggles.

Yes, he did ultimately kick on after the punctured lung, but he hasnt looked the same player after that back surgery but he will certainly be given the opportunity to play - I feel if we were not in with a chance of promotion in L1 then he may have played more to get fitness/confidence up.

Another one not mentioned is that Mo Faal guy, he was a decent League Two player wasn't he but you didn't fancy him in League One never mind the Championship. I don't think it was a nonsense point at all to be honest, I think @EnglishRed is trying to show off in front of his new mates. There's lots of players there that are surplus to requirements. And their wages may seem insignificant but they won't be to other teams so I don't see them matching it, meaning you'll have to pay them off or a pay a contribution of wages for a loan.

as said before, even with a promotion uplift of maybe 10%, R&R will be happy to subsidise a certain amount of existing players wages, if it means that a player will get game time elsewhere

Ollie Palmer is the classic example this summer. Had a contract extension, is on a pretty penny and has a WXM Clothing brand that he is heavily invested in. AFC Wimbledon or Gillingham would be perfect moves for him, as he still lives in London, but he will also be - and quite rightly - happy to sit on his bum and be a non registered player, unless we pay a bulk of his wages and send him on loan

Seems like Pol Valentin is set to join from Sheff Wednesday. Derby were in for him, too. Another unknown player is supposedly in for a medical later this week as well.

Edit - Valentin confirmed just as I posted this.

Just not normal behaviour this though is it. How many other clubs will have loads of non registered players hanging around? Premier League clubs don't even have this.

Just seems a waste of resource to me. I get there's plenty there for new signings, I get you make a lot of money but my point about trimming the excess on your squad stands to be honest. I think that is your hardest task this summer, so just refer back to my first post back on it to be honest.

You're joking aren't you? Premier League clubs have massive squads. Chelsea and Brighton had 41 players at the start of last season.

There have been some people odd contract decisions (Palmer and Mendy both got extentions when it's clear they weren't going to feature) but youre massively over playing it. And the majority oty of players we are talking about were signed in Non-league. Even on high wages for that league and with promotion bonuses we aren't talking about 15k a week players. Just as we did with Waters, Davies and Dalby we will find homes for these players if they aren't wanted.

Stocky is just trying to deflect attention to the fact Stockport lost 7m two seasons ago, and probably more this season.

We get its a waste of resource, and most Wrexham fans have been going over the potential ins and outs this summer

As English said, we have 27 players requiring registration currently. With possibly 6 signings in, that means we would have to drop 8. There may be some painful departures but that is football.

Registering keepers in this league is the killer to be fair as you have to forward plan other than having 6 on your books like we did last year, but even then we got stung with injuries.

Hopefully he either suprises a few of us or hes coming in as backup, because he feels very much like the last full back we signed from Wednesday, whatever happened to Marnick Vermijl?

They go out on loan though. I'm talking about players that just stay at the club and can't play because they haven't been registered. Not many do that.

You'll have paid a fair amount of salary for these players mentioned. My point is that they end up eating into the budget and it should be streamlined in these scenarios.

Hopefully we can pull back a fair bit in sales, it's a big loss but a lot of it was infastructure. We're streamlining the operation season upon season. We don't have the commercial revenue you can generate so we'll have to keep trying to find young players to sell on. I think on the pitch we've probably hit a bit of a ceiling at the top of L1 in the meantime whilst we can continue improving infastructure and trying to attract further investment which I think is quite close.

Sky Italy linking Sargent to Roma. It begins.

Roma don't actually spend huge that often and we'll be looking for £25m+, which would be around a top 5-10 paid fee for them. Not sure I see it, who would swap Norwich for Rome anyway?

He wouldn’t have been my first choice for backup but he’s still only 20 years old with time to improve.

Agreed if it was a permanent deal, loan seems odd though.

A move for a loan goalkeeper to become a number two seems odd, unless it’s with a commitment to buy in future. I’m no huge fan of BPF but he was ok to come in for the cups etc

He’s going to be number one imo because I can’t see Brighton agreeing to it without guarantees he’d be playing a certain amount of games.

    Very harsh on Allsop imo.

I just don’t see it, Davies is too hot on team spirit etc, no way he brings a loan keeper in and puts him straight into the team.
