Bailey Cargill signed a new two year contract, got himself a fair bit of other L1 interest so probably got himself a nice raise aswell, he was already under contract for next season.

Strikers market seems very limited in L1 at the minute.

Think we are close to completing Sam Dalby From Wrexham on a free. Big target man is exactly what we need, played the second half of last season without a proper striker. Him combined with one or both of McAtee and Collins COULD be lethal..

he was rubbish for us in the Vanarama, and since then done nothing but play back-up to the granddad's army of Wrexham strikers, then finally found the net playing rec football somewhere north of Newcastle. If he's good enough for L2 I'll eat my own head.

Yeah, we've been stung taking players who have done well north of the border. Even the Scottish Premier League is vastly inferior to some league 1/2 teams.

Bolton taking our castoffs is it?

Dalby was good backup for us in the Conference but that was about it. He's not a target man either, he constantly comes short to try and link the play. The fact he's scored goals in the SPL says more about the level up there really. He's done very well to get this move.

Yeah, surprised to see a League One club getting Dalby never mind a big hitter like Bolton

Not sure Dalby can ever be considered lethal.

That said he rarely got a run of games with us as he was behind Mullin and Palmer in the pecking order. And the few times he did he looked ok. Popped up with some good goals too (one against Mansfield in the FA Cup comes to mind). Dundee United played to his strengths whereas we tried to get him to adapt his game into something he wasn't comfortable with.

As a free he'd be a potentially decent signing, but the jury is still out whether or not he's L1 standard.

Saville off to Luton apparently. That’s an excellent signing for fhem. Would have kept him on but he’s the wrong side of 30 and we offered reduced terms. Can’t blame him for seeking a better package.

Very quiet at Vale, which means we're either missing out on players or we're trying for the better players who are likely to have more offers. Seems to be a distinct lack of rumours too.

Likewise at Posh , Fry hinted at a signing for today but MacAnthony is away on holiday whilst the window closes tonight but said he'd rather sign players from July 1st as a lot are out of contract & the ones we've bid for want higher wages which drops if they're not snapped up later in the window .

Saw that rumour. We’ll see if it materialises. We certainly need leaders on the pitch and he appears to be that type of player. Just turned 32 so not that old. Depends on how well he’s looked after himself.

Was like that for a while last year after Ronan Curtis signed. See Rico Richards has been released by Villa so do wonder if we will go after him after a decent loan. Seems to have something about him and a great impact sub.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey Argyle are interested in signing 22yr old midfielder Xavier Simons from Hull, was on loan at Wycombe 2nd half of last season

Bolton, Hibs, Blackpool and Wigan are apparently also interested.

    thoughts?
