Barnet v oldham Been looking forward to this one for a while. First big test we have had away from home. Dont get to many away games with family commitments but pencilled this one in months ago as im hoping one day it will count towards my 92. Very much like the tranmere game this for me. No doubt we go into it as underdogs but i do feel we can get something here. Reckon we are playing you at the right time with you losing in the cup at the weekend and with a couple of losses in recent league fixtures. Couple of new signings to sing about in clucas and stones. Clucas was class against tranmere, while we are hoping stones can replicate his form while here for 4 games last christmas where he scored 3 in 4 and also assisted a couple. Real quandry up top though as norwood and stones struck a real partnership back then yet fondop is the man in form. Tricky decision for mellon here. Also got drummond who for me sits this one out. Hopefully monthe is back after illness. He is key what we do at the back, and we looked shaky in the initial stages last sat before a tactical reshuffle. Gunna stick my neck out and say latics 2-1. Dont think we stop you scoring but you seem to fear the norwood fondop forward line and we do seem to have a hoodoo over you as well. First 6 pointer of the season for me. One we cant afford to let you win
Obviously one of the hardest games on paper this season but I think we can go to York and play without fear. We've sold out the away end so a big travelling crowd will be there and I'm looking forward to it. There are not many games to look forward to here but this is one. We usually have York's number so don't rule us out. Kiss of death right there.
Don't really know much about Oldham other than they play in blue. Another tough match. Excellent performance dominating possession at Exeter for parts of the game should give players a big confidence boost. Should win 3-1
Wealdstone at home for us in the early kick off. We really need a win, and a few goals, to kickstart our season a bit after some poor results. However think we’ll struggle our way to a 1-1
Might have to flick on the York V Hartlepool game at lunchtime, although yours is the one with extra coverage!
Usually the pick of the fixtures for me this but no trains from town to there and a daft 12:30 kick off time all but killed the enthusiasm for it, still a sell out away end, we were in a miserable spell last season when we went to York and played really well, fingers crossed for more of the same. Don't think we'll have a manager in by then, even if we did it'd probably still be Old Lennie in charge, playing better it must be said so there's hope, be happy with a point to keep us ticking over.
I'm not saying Lennie Lawrence is old but surely he'll be delighted if you win and take the 2 points home
A bit of bad blood in our meet against Boston, due to the 01/ 02 season where we should have gone up to League 2. This is the first time we meet them since and I expect us to take a good following as such. I was a bit too young to remember it personally, I’m just focusing on 3 points and a gradually returning squad
People of my age were denied one of the greatest days of their football supporting lives, more so the players in that squad denied a chance of football league which is the worst bit. I’m staying away for this, scummy club not having my money.
In the dreaded NL Cup last night, we managed to not use anyone who has been starting regularly recently, and gave 45 minutes to new signings Clucas and Stones, so that's well managed. So keeper and defence pick themselves, Hudson in goal (who if we were to keep improving our team, could be next to be replaced), back three of Monthe-Raglan-Ogle, Kitching and Caprice wing backs, two from Conlon, Clucas and Payne as deeper midfielders, and the revelatory Lundstram behind the front two. Up front is interesting, could be any of Fondop, who is in form and loves playing Barnet, Drummond, whose pace is a nightmare but can't finish, Norwood, who seems to have stopped moping, and the loan returnee Stones, who got a goal in 45 minutes last night. Means we'll have a strong bench too. Barnet perfect at home so far, Latics full of confidence, I believe about 450 away tickets sold so far, I'm excited to watch on the box! (edit: Just seen we're wearing our third kit too, one of my favourite kits of all time, woo! I imagine it'll be better than blue under the lights)
Hopefully having the past week and a half off from games might mean we can regroup and get a win away at Tamworth but we will have to be aware of the mental long throws.
Don't need to explain why we really need a win too. We've picked up a few more walking wounded the past couple of weeks which really doesn't help.
Shots are essentially a NLS squad with a couple of decent players. We have no CF, and rely for goalscoring on midfield , which is built around the managers son, not a NL-standard player. The defence is as creaky as ever; fortunately we have a good keeper, who I think has saved us at least 5 points this season. ( but his kicking is very dodgy…) If I sound disillusioned it’s because I am. I don’t like this squad and I’m rapidly going off the manager. I’m only attending out of a lifetime habit, and the 12.30 k.o. was almost the final straw. May the least-worse team win. Otherwise, a dull draw.
Halifax v Woking. 2 teams that struggle to score. I don't expect much different tomorrow. We've been conceding a lot of set piece goals lately. But truth be told if we'd have taken our chances or had anyone who could score we'd have won both of the last 2 games we've lost. Not sure what Woking are like. But there supporter who comes on here seems to match my enthusiasm about things.
Maidenhead seem to be OK at home but we're decent away and I feel we should have enough to nick it, Innis will be a miss but OTOH won't be getting himself sent off either.
